Let's say I have a 'friend' who keeps her pony at a very friendly livery yard. *All the owners, except one are female and all are really lovely. *Everyone is helpful, very chatty, has coffee and smoko together, they bring their dogs, kids and partners and its a great place to be. *The owner is a very friendly lady who bends over backwards for everybody. *There is one minor problem however, her husband. *To put it mildly he is one hell of a grumpy sod. *It has been noted that he is only this way with females. *Men on the other hand get the full smile, chat and welcome treatment from him. *The poor girls cop a terrible time from him. *He is always moody, never talks to anyone apart to complain about some minor, usually non existent problem that someone has apparently caused and generally makes everyone feel as though they are always in the wrong and not welcome. The one male owner, who is openly gay, happens to be his relative and he gives him a terrible time too. *I don't think it's right to be f'ing and cursing at him in front of us, nor the young children within earshot. *Apparently mr grumpy is the reason so many people have moved their horses over the years to other yards.
You would think that given the owners are his bread and butter that he would make an effort.
My friend is finding it very frustrating and it is starting to spoil an otherwise good horsey day out at the yard.
Her OH has threatened he'll 'have a word with him' unless he smartens up his act which would make for an interesting afternoon's entertainment.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?

When we were on a yard, I made my Oh change from wearing jods, which showed everything to breeches, because there were young girls on the yard.
There is no way I would put up with any adult swearing in front of children, I
would be tempted to make a joke of his grumpiness in front of him, hoping it would make him aware of his behaviour
