Obviously I’m not going to go on and on about them as we are all well aware on here 😊 but it made me smile that I started a new job today and was talking to a colleague about how we enjoyed dog ownership, and now I’ve come home to the permanent fixture every evening on my knee....

You must lock the bathroom door..... Marty in particular wants to be so happy to see me whenever I am IN the bathroom

I totally agree, I am a soft numpty I know, but I went through a phase of setting up my laptop to record my dogs when I was out to see if they were barking (they weren't, phew!) But the thing that made me incredibly happy every time I watched the footage was the sight of four happy enthusiastic tail-wagging hounds just before I came through the back door

Benefits for me (when at the office) are looking over my shoulder and seeing small canine person snuggled in her bed, sometimes snoring, and also having a good leg stretch round the local park at lunchtimes (which she adores)

Key benefit to me of our lad, who we’ve had for 3 months now, is getting Mr GL out for daily walks. He (Mr GL) had a dreadful year with his health last year, but things are now looking up and the dog is making him walk increasing distances daily to aid his rehab and return to fitness.

Apart from helping me get my steps in I think they (especially the retriever) remind me to be happy with the small things in life. honestly, if I could be that happy with a ball I had all my life, wouldn't life be simpler?! And the relentless optimism, everyone should be more dog.

I say that every day to my dogs - I like my food (unfortunately!) but the way being fed every day..... or walked every day.... is absolutely the best thing to ever happen to them is wonderful <3
