The Benylin Thread!

Oh yeah- and people who buy beautiful sports horses and WRECK them because they've over horsed themselves. And won't pigging admit it!!! Argh!!!

It's always the horses fault, naturally!!!

If you can't handle it, don't ruin it!!

Rather snooty nosed 'horse' owners who truly believe that because i own 'ponies' and not 'big horsies' that i am obviously far beneath them in status despite that fact that i was probably wiping their mothers ar*ses for them before they were even thinking about learning to ride...................

rant rant rant

a) People who have horses for a hobby, but dont seem to actually like them, i.e. spend the whole time talking about selling/ finding something else. Although I have the occasional wobble....(getting up to do 2 before work in the morning in the dark/ snow/ rain), I generally enjoy my horse else I wouldnt do it...

b).....and this is the main one, people exaggertaing mentally and being obsessed with jumping HUGE, i.e. someone I know when xc schooling with her novice horse and 'jumped all the massive ones- 3ft3 triple bruses etc'...turned out that she was there for 2 hours and had multiple stops at pretty much every fence before scrapping over uncomfortably....why not stick at the smaller fences and get it right? Another person whose nice green horse is gaining confidence at 85cm/90cms coming back from a lesson with a very knowledgable SJ instructor telling everyone that she was jumping courses of 1.15 with 1.25 oxers hmmmmmmm maybe......?

....or maybe Im the worst, getting mad at other people rather than ignoring and carrying on.... :-D

p.s. ooohhhh that feels better !

My totally unreasonable dislike at the moment is having to talk to other people, face to face. On here is fine, texting is fine, because it can all be on my terms, but having to see people, talk to them bah!!!!

I am tired and grumpy and would far rather talk to my horses. People are just annoying and rubbish!!!

Tomorrow the usual happy service will return.

fwiw I don't think anyone has come up with an UNreasonable one so far :D

In honour of my explosion of ill humour earlier this week, having unwisely consumed too much Benylin and one glass of wine - I give you - the Benylin thread.
In which you get to be totally unreasonable in your utter dislike of one particualr horsey trend/habit/tendency

and I will begin with

People who are done up to the eyeballs in the most expensive Joules this that and the other, River Boots or even Ariats, rugs courtesy every bugger from Mark Todd to Katie Price, every accessory known to man... and their BLOODY horse looks like the undead in carpet slippers - gloopy eyes, hairy heels (forgiveable if native or traditional but please, on a TB / Warmblood type?) DIRTY TACK (expensive, but dirty) and ... wait for it ... SHAVINGS IN THEIR TAIL.

OK. I'm done.

I have to say, its my horse who is done up to the eyeballs in expensive gear while I wander around looking like the undead with shavings in my hair!.....

My pet hate?
People who every time a horse farts or (God forbid) bucks call a vet, a physio, a saddle fitter, a bit advisor, a dentist and even an animal communicator, but never even consider learning to ride the thing!

Ah, that's better:)

ditto

ok having a couple of horses with a completely unknown condition and a horse with a very rare one i get sick and bloody tired of people who complain about the most stupid little thing.
my vets are busy and i only call them out as an emergency even with everything that is going on but it really get my fecking anger up when the vets are tied up with some silly non emergency coz some stupid owner dont know better
Fecking get a life, sorry if i am sounding harsh but had a very upssetting day just again for a fecking change

People who use the kettle and don' fill it back up. Throw water around the yard during the day so those of us that have to go up very early and very late due to kids/work risk breaking our necks! Shutting all the gates on the way out to the field (6 in total) - the nearest one to the yard and the one to the field would be enough but of course they can see what they are doing in the daylight!!

And breath .....

Orange oompa loompa little brats and their mothers who look like east Germany prison camp guards, parading around the yard in their pink diamante, who think they can push everyone else around just because their lottery numbers came up a few years ago and they've gone from being total chavs to chavs with money.

Does Co-codamol count?!!! Very groggy at moment having just had shoulder surgery.

Pet hate - ladies that hang around the yard all day "fiddling" (ie waiting for you to go so they can rummage through your stuff). They are all over 50, have bought matching boots (sad) and stand around gossiping, never ride their horses but then feed them oats so they gallop around the fields, and then gossip that I am riding too much, horse too big, horse too grey, horse is just frankly rediculous!!! Apparently horses should only be ridden once in a blue moon otherwise they are over worked!

Then - wait for it some of you are going to hate this - if I have to hack out and horse is fresh, I ride out in draw reins (I must add they are lose on his neck and are only used for the way home when he turns into a spooky, spinny, head tossing TB, although most of he time he is just a spooky yet calm WB, but if he hasn't been ridden because of the snow his TB brain comes out on the way home and safety is top of my mind). (Is that the longest sentence ever?)

These ladies disapprove of anyone who gets to the yard before 10am although they are perfectly happy to let us early birds to feed and turn out their horses while they have tea in bed and we go off to work!

Oh and in their minds horses that are crippled in pain should just have more bute - and no horse should ever be PTS regardless of condition before they are 35!!!

I think I need more drugs......

Oh, also those who have dogs that poop all round the yard without clearing up and allow them to pee on my hay!!!!

Yard is meant to be a dog free yard!!!

Bit silly isn't it? Imagine if athletes, you know sprinters and long jumpers, went round saying they despised people who walk.

My husband gets 'Runners World' magazine and they do actually slag off people that don't run in that!!

One of my pet hates is when it's freezing and icy and people still insist on hosing the little bit of mud off their horses feet, leaving the yard an ice rink!
Last time it snowed the YM had to hide the hosepipe!

mine are:

those that have horses that they are scared of, so they don't do anything with them.....

those that keep their horses cooped up because everytime they put them out in the field they go garrity.... erm... no surprise there then

erm, I am sure there are more

:D :D :D Anyone would think you had someone specific in mind :D :D :D

and here's me thinking Benylin was what you gave the over hyped/nutty horse to calm it down [ half a bottle usually does the trick]. Wow, what a thread.

Please, let me once again stress, lest Benylin or its makers decide to sue me, the title is derived from my senseless rantings the other night when I decided to drink a largeish glass of wine on TOP of the Benylin (which was the non drowsy kind, anyway), which is specifically contra indicated !!!

Benylin on its own does not have this effect, honest!

I also HATE it when a certain dog pees on my straw pale :( It's covered over but still..they just stand and watch.

I also can't stand ignorance.. i.e. leaving a horse without access to food for over 16 hours because, 'I know my horse, it's getting fat', and although it is 'lame' i'll still go and jump it every day.. 'i'll also leave my wheel barrow behind your car in the hope that you reverse into it and failing that, i'll just box your car in and then watch you struggle to move yours'...argh!!

ok...............people who although they pay the same rate as you for the yard think they have more of a right to use the facilities than you, this includes your tack and when you catch them (literally with your tack on their horse) have a a go at you saying its your fault not theirs...........................still can't work that one out if anyone can work that out and explain who it is my fault they still from me.................answers on a post card:)

they used your TACK?

I would kill them. Just there and then. That would stop them.

I HATE that. Grrrr.

A friend of mine lent a flash noseband to one of the other girls on the yard ONCE. What started to happen was, whenever my friend wasn't at the yard, this girl would go to her tack locker, take her flash and use it, then put it back. Well, one day my friend arrived at the yard early to ride, saw her flash was not on her bridle and took a guess as to where it might be. Yes, you guessed it - it was 'in use' with this particular individual. So my friend asked her for it back, and this girl said 'can you just wait half an hour, I've only just started riding?'
My friend's response cannot be documented on a public forum accessed by children, but suffice to say it started with 'f' and finished with... 'f'.
