Can anyone recommend a good bute substitute which is competition legal?

My mare gets a bit footy when her shoes are due to be done due to a long toe and low heel on one of her feet. She has had xrays and there is nothing to see other than a slightly reduced angle than is perfect and this is something we are working on to improve constantly

I was just wondering whether there was anything that could help her towards the end of the shoeing period.

I think that's how you spell it. As far as I remember it is cheaper than Bute and it is supposed to taste sweeter so the horses don't mind eating it. It is also kinder on their gut than Bute too. You can only get it from your vet though. Another one is a supplement called buteless but I have never used it so couldn't give you any idea how well it works x

Try Global Herbs Bute-X. It's an amazing supplement. My veteran gelding was on 3-4 bute a day and was still extremely lame at walk when he was suffering with lamintis in 2007. As a last resort we tried Bute X to enable him to come off the bute as we were worried about long term use of bute. Within hours my horse was walking round and looked happier in himself and within a few days had been weaned almost completely off all prescribed pain relief. Im usually a bit of a cynic with these type of supplements but the Bute X for us was nothing short of miraculous in Benjis recovery.

I'm fairly sure it would be legal competition wise but if you call their helpline just to check, they're very helpful!!
