The best conformable surface

Im persuading my OH to adapt the hardcore track we put into our yard (circa 100 metres) into a t/o track - for feet, weight, boggy winter fields etc. We need to improve the surface as its rough type 1 and my princess who i need to transition to barefoot, wont cope. What would you put on it for the long term - we may have pea gravel sections but not the whole thing. Cant cost a fortune - we’ll do it ourselves. Thank you

Hello I used limestone 5mm to dust on top of my type 1. Got it delivered from the quarry and barrowed it round the yard. Has given a lovely surface much kinder for barefoot.
