The best general purpose vit & min supplement for your money

In your experience, which supplement is best value for money. I've used both ends of the spectrum before, Global Herbs, which was super but so expensive, and Clop, which was cheap and frankly crap..

So....

Enlighten me :D
 
I used equivite original for a long time and it seemed fine. I always bought it in 15kg tubs as it was half the price of buying in small quanitities. Recently swapped to a blanacer though (it was only meant to be a trial) but I have seen improvements in him so think I will keep with it.
 
I've recently started my horse on a general vit&min suppliment recommended by my vets.
It's called EVENT and is by a company called vetPlus (they also make synequin).

It is a liquid fed once a month and it works out approx £10 a month if purchased in the smaller quantity (less for a years supply)

Theory behind it is the vits & mins are in a chealted form, stored in the horses soft tissues and released according to the individual horses requirements.

Most powdered suppliments are non-specific and are shovelled in one end and a lot is ***'ed out the other

Early days for my horse but I like the theory behind it and the price is reasonable
 
I've had my pair of Dodson & Horrell daily vits and mins all through this winter and both have done well on it.

Previously tried Vetvits, Dengi leisure vits and mins and Equivite but wasn't particulary impressed with any of these.

Will stick with the D & H - coats looking good & hoof condition very good.
 
I feed naf general purpose and my horses are always shiney with good feet etc so I'm happy with it. Def see the difference between mine and the horses kept next door with don't receive anything. Dull lifeless coats and bad feet
 
Gave up on supplements . . . too many didn't give what Kal needed and together I felt a)the approach was too scattershot; and b) were too expensive . . . so I switched to a balancer. Yes, it's £36/bag . . . a bag lasts about two months, but is still cheaper than shelling out for Pink Powder, Magic, Biotin and something to support his respiration . . . all separately.

I am struggling too - have used pink powder, Naf general purpose, tried mixing seaweed, yeast and magnesium not really overly enamoured with any.

Was thinking of trying a balancer but they look so expensive and you have to buy a huge bag - what if horses don't like it? Did use the Pure balancer for a while as it was on special offer and they ate it but went through it quite quickly - I did weigh it and feed at recommended amount.

Think I may just resort to a large stock of salt licks :D
 
I was considering a balancer too, they are so expensive! Id use Baileys LoCal but i loathe baileys and hate their prices, but theres no other company who does a good low calorie balancer is there?

Another vote for the EVENT drench here :)
We used it for our two mares in foal - excellent stuff.
Can't say they were too impressed with the taste though - if your horse is easy to worm then i'd definitely recommend it.
 
Blue chip do Lami light which a friend whith Hippo Highlands uses - Don't know what it costs though?

Pure are very good would they be suitable - worth asking them ?

Bluechip do little free samples too...my fatty scoffed it but I felt he didn't need it and am just sticking to good old grass and hay!
 
seaweed is a very rich source of natural vitamins and minerals, including essential trace minerals. A great source of Magnesium, Calcium, Phosphorus, Iron, Potassium, 12 vitamins (including A, B1, B2, C, D and E ), 21 amino acids and over 60 minerals and trace elements. It is particularly rich in the trace element iodine and tocopherol (Vitamin E). it is just the more natural way
 
I tried lots, nothing impressed me.
I switched to blue chip which he did well on but then I looked into pure feeds and now he is on the conditioning.
He loves it, simple to feed and no need for all the extras.

Spillers do a Lite Balancer. It's cheaper than Bailey's Lo Cal. RRP is about £19 but I get mine at Mole Avon for under £15 per 20kg bag.

You still feed the same small volume per day. I switched over to it at the start of winter and she looks as well on it as she has on the more expensive balancers.

Tbh I don't see the difference between a balancer and general supplement, iv used both and found a balancer very expensive and in the long run all you are doing is adding vits/mins which your unsure weather they actually need them!
Balancers are a rip off after all what are u balancing?
