Both my yearlings feet have started cracking at the bottom and bits chipping off, i can only think that it is due to all the dry weather we have had as they are normally fine. What is the best thing to put on them? They already have cornucrescine on once a week or so. Thanks

Oh please, do not use vaseline, it is non breathable and you will do far more harm than good. Try Hoof Heal.

cornucrescine every day on coronet band, and a good farrier every 4 to 5 weeks til ground softens up then 6 to 8 week trims when softer! if feet are chipping then obviously got enough to trim back!

The farrier only came 4 weeks ago, he comes every 6 weeks. A bit chunk came out of one of their feet, nothing to do with their feet being long.

Another vote for kevin bacon.

If they are cracking then make sure you use something that moisturises rather than hardens, as hardening the hooves could make them more brittle.

I use a hoof moist product which I bought from my farrier in Scotland.

However, my two old horses who always had great feet started to suffer one summer and my vet said 'nutrition'. I had stopped their hard feed. Now I always feed but small amounts and give them vit licks in the field.

Cornucresine (sp?). It also works wonders on scars - the hair comes back with no white hairs.

Try a doubled edged approach, from inside by feeding biotin - my farrier always says you only get out what you put in.
Then from the outside with Kerratex once or twice a week and Kevin Bacons hoof dressing I've used this for 4 months on my horse, and the improvement to his hooves is amazing.
