my hunters have split again and i'm after some new wellies, alot of people have said if you wear them alot is's well worth spending abit of money. What makes have worked well for people??
 
Well having some that are comfortable is very important to me, so despite my last pair of hunters only lasting 2 years I've bought another pair as they are the ones that seem to fit me snugly. I wear wellies a lot and can be a bit careless about leaving in the sunshine to dry off. This time I have a box by the back door to allow them to dry out without having the sun on them, if this lot only last a year, then I will be forced to try another make!
 
I've always got on well with the hunter lady balmorals neoprene wellies, they last a couple of years of pretty hard use, I think driving in them has killed them more than anything as they split on the ankle!
Have just brought my son (who gets through normal hunters every few months) some neoprene lined Seeland wellies, he says they are really comfy so we just have to see how long they last!.
 
My Hunters have just started to leak at the heel after five years' service. I'm thinking of replacing them with the neoprene-lined Hunters. Anyone know if they are worth the extra? i.e. are they actually much warmer? (OP, apologies for slight thread hijack...)
 
Sainsbury's Wellies, only £18 but lasted at least 8 months - only replaced today as the back seam had split - I've had boots at 10 times the price last for shorter times.
 
IMO Neoprene lined makes a big difference to warmth, once you've had a pair you wont go back to normal unlined wellies!
 
I had some seeland neoprene wellies and although they were really comfortable and warm they only lasted me 1 winter and had perished in a couple of places..although I did muck out in them, my mare is on shavings and very clean so I don't think it was the mucking out that made them perish....I then bought aigle (about £160!!!!!!) and they did all of last winter and so far are fine this winter. they are really comfortable and nice and warm and are good if your calves aren't skinny..
 
I bought some basic dunlops for £12 2 years ago from a local 'factory shop'
Still going fine and with a pair of my nice insoles in (I use superfeet ones in various shoes) they feel just like a much more expensive pair!
Dunlop all the way for me, I won't ever buy a more expensive pair again.

loathe them, would never have another pair!

I buy rigger boots-the ones for oil rigs-non slip, steel toe, water and ammonia proof and thermal lined. I wear unlined Dunlops in the summer if needed.
 
My mum has always had aigles I brought her a new pair for Christmas as after 5 years they just started to leak..... I have cheamous (think that's how you spell it) had them nearly 2 years and still feel and look the same as they did the day I brought them. I spend all winter and majority of summer in them and love them. They are pricey but for something I wear all day every day I think it's worth the money for quality and comfort
 
I've just bought my second pair of Goodyear Pathfinder wellies. The only wellies I've owned that haven't split and leaked. Sadly the neoprene lining inside the heel of the first pair split and rubbed my heel. But good sturdy warm boots.
 
Lol that looks more like the way you spell it.... couldn't be bothered to get up and look at my chameau's to see....... mine where £165 and are neoprene lined also by them for the kids and OH has them. I wouldn't ever buy another welly
 
Wellies depress me, I have such freakishly large calves I can never get any to fit, so many nice ones on this thread!
 
I also have large calves but have just bought a pair of Hoggs of Fife Field Sport 365. They are very comfy and have enough calf room for a reasonably thick pair of socks. They also do a neoprene version but I wanted something I could also wear in summ without being too hot as I am probably going to be spending more time out on farms for my work this summer.
 
I've just replaced my Muck Boots after two years of heavy use. Like a poster above mentioned, I think driving did them in, as they were still immaculate apart from a pesky split in the heel.

Anyway, I bought an identical pair, as they're comfortable, warm, and I also ride in them (Colt Ryders). They were £86, so if they give me another two years, I don't think that's bad value.
 
I actually think they're all pretty rubbish nowadays, I have Grubs Stalkers which are comfortable and fine to drive in but which give about a year if you're lucky. They might also be slim enough to ride in if you have smallish feet.

Seeland may be worth trying, I have a shooting coat of theirs which has proved EXCELLENT.

I've just bought my third pair of Toggi Wanderer Plus Unisex in 12 years. Not the Classic or Ladies ones which are rubbish.

Calf size on the Wanderer Plus and the zipped Esprit version go up to 52cm (20.5 inches in old money) (verified by Toggi) with the gusset open.

Got them for a great price with Uttings
 
Ditto. I've tried everything over the past forty years of daily mucking out, and it seems price has no real bearing on how long things last. Old fashioned Dunlops wear really well and have good thick soles with ridges to help with not slipping on mud, but they are heavy to wear.
Also muck boots are good, as you can ride in them but when you're mucking out at speed they can seriously heat you up!
 
Le cheamau or aigle a fortune but the only 1s I've had that haven't died within the year & are so comfy!

I'm trying to pluck up the courage to buy some cause my "oh these look decent from the beta shop for £50" have died! Had them about a year
 
Another vote for Dunlops (think mine were £22). They've already outlasted my last 2 pairs of Hunters and my very expensive rubbish Le Chameaus which lasted a whole 2 months before they split.
