The Bionic Vet

i shed a tear, he genuinley loves these animals!! part of me makes me think, particularly with the cat that had his legs chopped of by a combine harvester, why did you not put the cat to sleep straight away? is it a series or just a one off.
ETA- that cat was addorable, which mine was that affectionate!!

its a series. i guess the cat's vet knew of this vet and referred him. and the more people who hear about him, the more animals will be given the chance of life changing operations. when i heard of this i was a bit sceptical, especially when they were discussing the lab who was riddled with arthiritis. but seeing that cat, Oscar, has so changed my mind. i know if something like that happened to my ginger cat, i would sell my house to have him fixed. he means the world to me and i nearly lost him when he was 3 months old as it is.

i think he was good in that he said that if any time he feels it isnt right he wont continue and will put the animals welfare first.
i think cats are abit different in they can adapt to being house cat, if anything happened to missy i think i would just have her put to sleep. i love her to pieces and have recently just recovered from a £600 vet bill where she got stood on by a horse and dislocated and chipped her hip, if it was like that dog where it was to do with a joint i might think differently but i wouldnt have an artificial limb put on her.

I thought it was brill, I recorded it as was on a bit late for me (well i like my sleep! Lol). He was realistic and as brilliant as he was he did say he knew the boundaries of what could be done and would'nt overstep them. I think it's great these pinoeering guys are about - attempting what's not been done before. It's all progression isn't it. I shall look forward to the next episode!

Noel Fitzpatrick - I knew him when he worked at a surgery in Surrey 15 years ago, with TV vet Mark Evans, who was then working on Pet Rescue. It's such a small world ! He is a lovely man. sm x

Just watched it - didn't think I was going to like / agree with it but was astounded. What an amazing man, and facilities. I shall be tuning in every week to see what comes next!

I met Noel when my dog Zeus was referred to him with a tumour. He is the most compassionate, wonderful caring man and he makes you feel like you and your dog are the most important person and pet in the world.

Sadly, I lost Zeus but even to the very end Noel was so caring and gave me a huge hug when I said goodbye.

On a lighter note, he is rather fanciable and seems to have this effect on most women I have spoken to ;)

I saw half of this when it was on the other day, and watched it again now. He is truly amazing, he seems such a nice person too. I loved how Oscar the cat didn't even stress that he had funny feet, he just got on with it and didn't let it stop him! :)

it just shows how truly amazing our little furry friends are. new legs? blah, no problem! it would've taken a human months and months to get back to normal after that op. truly incredible. i'm gonna let my 11 yr old son watch it tomorrow, i told him about it earlier and he seemed v interested.

eugh - fanciable??? u guys serious? well, i guess his charms must work on some as he has a bit of a reputation, but no thanks! he operated on my dog recently and I send him a lot of work and he's a very good vet, but there we draw the line! We're having a big party there in a couple of wks - wonder if the BBC will want to film him spending the whole day flirting lol!

Come on Star, tell us all you know ... ;)

Does anyone know when this was filmed?

I was on my pc last night when I suddenly heard the vet talking about a black lab called Flite and immediately dashed to the TV to find out that it was a friend of mine who I used to work with. Flite is such a lovely and intelligent doggie. Just amazed they can do hip replacements..... I think I'll be booking myself in there when I need a replacement. I wonder how Flite is now..... I shall be finding out.

I wonder if he could adapt these techniques to horses.

I have seen so many horses put down instantly after a broken leg or very bad ligamanet/ tendon damage. This man could save the lifes of so many horses!

Just to give you an update to those of you who are interested:

I have spoken to the owner of the black lab who received a new hip earlier this year and he is doing really well as if he hadn't had a replacement at all!
