Today I have had 4 letters about my renewal. 1 for the horse, 1 for me, 1 confirming that I am have a RC special deal and 1 confirming I have recommended a friend.

So firstly they send it 2 days before my renewal great! secondly they have already debited my membership and charged me too much AGAIN. They did this last year as I have a deal for £110 for me and the horse and instead they charged me for horse and rider £199.

I am so fed up with them that they cannot pull there fingers out of their arses and be a proffessional organisation. So tomorrow I will have another battle with some girl in the office trying to put this right and again they will owe me money which despite asking for it back last year they did not and said they would hold it on credit. For gods sake this is the governing body. I also deal with BE and they are so efficient and I seem to have none of these cock ups. They need a kick up the arse.
 
well least you got yours before your renewal date! this year I got mine a month AFTER for me and horse has never come through! not rejoined though as not been jumping but you can't blame the post office for a month delay when the post mark was for 2 days previous

I haven't been able to use the recommend a friend yet as it is £20 off rider membership and not horses so I still have it. Mine ran out and haven't renewed it.

The only thing about the BSJA messing things up was that the girl in the office decided I couldn't renew Dolly over the phone had to do it in writing for some reason, 2 days later she went lame - saved myself £78.
 
Lec - did they take the money by Direct Debit? If so it is covered by the DD guarantee and they have to give you the money back.

The direct debit guarantee applies to all banks and building societies taking part in the direct debit scheme. It says that:


If there is a change in the amount to be paid or the payment date, the person receiving the payment (the originator) must notify the customer in advance.

If the originator or the bank/building society makes an error, the customer is guaranteed a full and immediate refund of the amount paid.

Customers can cancel a direct debit at any time by writing to their bank or building society.
 
I have written them an evil letter and an evil email. I am very good at complaining!

Useful to know about the DD as they have cocked it up twice. Bloody useless. Luckily my horse causes them no further admin problems as he has never done a double clear!
 
I wouldn't pay this sort of organisation by DD if they'd already cocked up once, though FinnMcCoul is right, you can demand the money back from your Bank and then they have to retrieve it from the BSJA.
 
I don't have a DD in place with them so they can't renew automaticall anyway but it clearly states on the BSA website that Horse renewals won't be processed automatically anyway

My OH's and Trike's membership are due for renewal in a fortnight's time and they received notification letters on monday so can't complain

Oh god yeah, BSJA are absolutely dreadful. BE are a millions times better organised and more professional. I had huge problems just trying to register my horse (who was imported) to get his points taken off (he wasnt even old enough to be backed when he was abroad let alone jumped). I was told different things by different people until one said "oh no, its fine, he has no points, Ill register him now". AGHHH!

And as for updating my online record. What a joke. I had to argue like hell to get 3 show results added and 2 placings they still say I never got. And they're usually 3 months out of date......
