The bullion stallion

Didn't think Andalusians were that rare... Not really doing much for me, don't like the colour, wouldn't call it gold either, and I expect he'll be kept entire so people can get the rare colour but pay no attention to performance, health, temperament, and whether he's actually a good example of the breed or not?

I can think of a million things I'd breed for in a horse before I worried about the colour.

Think I'll leave it at that, before I say anything rude.

A bit different...

Hope he turns out to be a horse with a nice temperament and works well in his chosen discipline. Would be reluctant to breed from him though given how he is put together.

Although indiscriminate breeding comes to mind, especially as it was purely for his colour..

Agreed. My friend's 3 year old Irish TB was frankly, hideous but at 7 he was lovely. He also changed from being able (and willing!) to knock down a trotting pole :) to something with an excellent jump who beat many extremely expensive horses in the ring.

I don't think it's very far to judge conformation when he's that young. Many youngsters looks badly put together until they mature - just look at Valegro!

I said this on another forum, but I hope that he matures into a good horse that will add to the gene pool, if he grows a hump back and uneven legs, sadly he will probably still be used just because of his colour.

He looks a typical gawky, cut and shut long yearling right now, it would be interesting to see how he turns out.

Terrible photos in the news article , not at all flattering :(

He has a facebook page... i had a look and i think there were baby photos if anyone is interested?

Also i agree at the moment he is an ugly duckling but he may well blossom into a 'swan' :)

I can't be doing with colour genetics-is he just a very 'good' perlino? I like perlinos, they aren't that unusual in Lusitanos. Iberian youngsters are often unattractive IME-am sure he will look lovely when he's older. He'll need grading for breeding will he not?

I quite like the colour, it's striking. Not especially struck on him, not my sort of horse but I don't think he warrants the catty comments some are making. Why not just keep the comments to yourselves, rather than make snide remarks *about* keeping them to yourself? Lots of horses don't have great conformation, doesn't mean they can't do a job for someone. Also, he's young and plenty of young horses look quite bizarre as they're growing up. Doesn't mean he won't mature into a nice horse.

I didn't either!

They do look rather odd but id love to see one with my own eyes!

ETA: Sorry bored at work and i found a curly horse? Are these real too??http://www.personal.psu.edu/wbs14/blogs/equine_breeds/

I think that may be a rather extreme case.....but yes they seem to be a real horse, originally from north america? Most seem to have curly manes and waves in their coat rather than curls!

On the golden horse...... I don't think anyone can say a lot about it currently! I've never seen a good looking youngster, all of them look like cut and shunt jobs!
