Today we went for a really long ride! It was almost 3 hrs! Many exciting things happened!
First, we walked to the big field where we walked in a tense little circle the other day. Today, we walked and trotted in there! In circles and figure-eights! I don't know what she's so worried about...but I did see a scary metal thing, and jumped sideways. She didn't approve. She called me a chicken!
Then, we went to the square place with the roof, where there are lots of other horses. She inexplicably left me in a pony-prison-cell for a just few minutes, barely enough time to start pulling at the haynet I found there, and then we were off again.
We got to the place with the pony-vorous porta-potty! I was very nervous about it, but she gave me a big smack on the bum, and before I knew it, we were past...so that was all right.
But then the scary stuff started. First, she wanted me to go on a path that was just inappropriate. There were roots, and pits, and rocks, and deep deep mud, and I finally just told her that I didn't feel safe. And for once, she actually listened, and we went a different way.
The different way led over a horrible horrible puddle. It wasn't especially deep, or particularly long, but I could tell that there were sharks in it! I tried to tell the Carrot Lady by trying to spin (didn't work, got smacked) and walking backwards lots (just made her more annoyed). Finally, she actually got off and made me walk through...she could have just done that in the first place; I would have known it was OK then!
We got to the place with the huge tall gate that she has to get off to open. On the other side, she immediately started complaining again about some shiny sparkly things on the ground. She seemed really worried that I would step on "broken bottles" (I didn't), and was really mad that the sparkly things were on the ground for quite a long way.
Finally, we were through that bit, and then I saw another horrible horrible metal thing. I don't know what it was! But she insisted that I wasn't allowed to turn around and run back (maybe because of the sparkly things??), and after a huge argument, she actually got off again to lead me past the thing!
Then we got to the really big woods with the nice soft paths for galloping. We trotted lots, and she kept the reins annoyingly short, so I had to put my head down (or really really high up, but she gets annoyed at that too).
Then, I saw another horrible horrible thing!
I didn't have a chance to explain what it was to her; I just had to spin and get out of there, really really fast. Again the silly woman stopped me (does she want to get eaten by monsters?), and we went another different way.
The next fun thing was a bunch of little horses, littler than me! They were in a field, and we were cantering along the track really fast, and suddenly I saw them, so of course I got startled (who wouldn't be?). The Carrot Lady muttered something about "only Welshies" and "chicken" again...
Then we went home. She said we weren't going near the sparkly things again (why is she allowed to be spooky, and I get called a chicken?), so we went along the hard path with the loud shiny fast things. There were a lot of them today! She kept saying nasty things about them too...
All in all, an exciting afternoon, although I still don't understand why she's annoyed.
Oh, and I'm back in pony jail today.
