Today we went for a really long ride! It was almost 3 hrs! Many exciting things happened!
ooo.gif

First, we walked to the big field where we walked in a tense little circle the other day. Today, we walked and trotted in there! In circles and figure-eights! I don't know what she's so worried about...but I did see a scary metal thing, and jumped sideways. She didn't approve. She called me a chicken!

Then, we went to the square place with the roof, where there are lots of other horses. She inexplicably left me in a pony-prison-cell for a just few minutes, barely enough time to start pulling at the haynet I found there, and then we were off again.

We got to the place with the pony-vorous porta-potty! I was very nervous about it, but she gave me a big smack on the bum, and before I knew it, we were past...so that was all right.

But then the scary stuff started. First, she wanted me to go on a path that was just inappropriate. There were roots, and pits, and rocks, and deep deep mud, and I finally just told her that I didn't feel safe. And for once, she actually listened, and we went a different way.

The different way led over a horrible horrible puddle. It wasn't especially deep, or particularly long, but I could tell that there were sharks in it! I tried to tell the Carrot Lady by trying to spin (didn't work, got smacked) and walking backwards lots (just made her more annoyed). Finally, she actually got off and made me walk through...she could have just done that in the first place; I would have known it was OK then!

We got to the place with the huge tall gate that she has to get off to open. On the other side, she immediately started complaining again about some shiny sparkly things on the ground. She seemed really worried that I would step on "broken bottles" (I didn't), and was really mad that the sparkly things were on the ground for quite a long way.

Finally, we were through that bit, and then I saw another horrible horrible metal thing. I don't know what it was! But she insisted that I wasn't allowed to turn around and run back (maybe because of the sparkly things??), and after a huge argument, she actually got off again to lead me past the thing!

Then we got to the really big woods with the nice soft paths for galloping. We trotted lots, and she kept the reins annoyingly short, so I had to put my head down (or really really high up, but she gets annoyed at that too).

Then, I saw another horrible horrible thing!

I didn't have a chance to explain what it was to her; I just had to spin and get out of there, really really fast. Again the silly woman stopped me (does she want to get eaten by monsters?), and we went another different way.

The next fun thing was a bunch of little horses, littler than me! They were in a field, and we were cantering along the track really fast, and suddenly I saw them, so of course I got startled (who wouldn't be?). The Carrot Lady muttered something about "only Welshies" and "chicken" again...

Then we went home. She said we weren't going near the sparkly things again (why is she allowed to be spooky, and I get called a chicken?), so we went along the hard path with the loud shiny fast things. There were a lot of them today! She kept saying nasty things about them too...

All in all, an exciting afternoon, although I still don't understand why she's annoyed.

Oh, and I'm back in pony jail today.

I think you are a very sensible young man, Spooky Pony. Puddles in the woods are very dangerous things. My carrot lady is always trying to make me and the dimwit go through shark infested puddles in the woods. I am far too clever for that! Last time she got off the dimwit and made him walk through but I had Carrot Man (who knows nothing!) on my back so I ran off through the trees with him to protect him from the sharks. He wasn't very grateful.

By the way, you don't want to go near the sparkly things, they are very bad for us and can mean very sore feet, a visit from the man in the green shirt who smells funny and WEEKS in pony prison! This why your Carrot Lady was so annoyed with them

Love
MoM

Oh dear, I didn't know that about the sparkly things! So she was right to be spooky about them! I'll remember that for the next time I see something sparkly.

Why are there always people hitting small white balls with sticks where we ride? Maybe someone knows what they do that for? One of those balls almost fell on us the other day!

Thanks for the compliment, MoM! At least someone thinks I'm sensible.

Dear spooky,
I really can't understand why your carrot lady was so mad, those all sounded like very scary things for a pony to contend with, I would have been anyway though I expect my mum would have told me off too. I think your carrot lady may be so cross about having to get off a few times on your ride cos nothing winds my mum up more than having to get off, I think its just cos they are lazy.
I had a bit of a nicer day than you spooky. My mum let me do jumping today as I've been so good at doing the stressy age? thing this week. I love jumping although I was made to do some stressy age before we got to do the jumps but I was excited cos I could see the jumpies and I knew mum was gonna let me do them! She told me off for not concen strating? a few times but it wasnt my fault- the flirty girls were looking over the fence and putting me off and I could see the jumpies!
grin.gif
Also I kept getting bitten by flies and they made me very cross but I didnt do bucking even when two were biting my bum cos mummy hates it when I do that and I either get a big smack or mummy falls off and I was very sad last time- I really hurt her, and I felt very very ashamed I was only trying to express my feelings, not hurt my mum!
frown.gif
So I kept my feet firmly on the ground until we did jumpies! Yay! I was very good at jumpies cos I'm the bestest jumper ever! Mum was pleased and Dad remembered the carrots today, I got two and a pear in my dinner, I havnt had one of them before but it was yummy! Good old daddy.
Smell you later
Love Freddie

Oh by the way spooky, you definately aren't a chicken! I have seen chickens and they have feathers and they go flap- you don't look like one of those at all, your carrot lady must be a bit confused!

Hey Spooky
laugh.gif
,

You were ever so brave even going through the mud and the water. I don't like mud so sort of hop through it - really annoys my mum
mad.gif
- she calls me a dressage diva and says how the hell did I cope hunting if I don't like mud and water
shocked.gif
- stoopid woman doesn't understand that hunting was fun
laugh.gif
as it was big race with a load of mates so I didn't notice the mud 'n stuff!!
grin.gif
I refused to go through water last time she wanted me to go through the brook - looked like a huge fast bottomless torrent to me
shocked.gif
shocked.gif
- so she got off to lead me through but I just jumped it as I just don't like getting my hooves wet
mad.gif
- was very pleased with myself as it was a huge jump to make sure I didn't get wet she called me 'T*sser' - is that good??
confused.gif

Anyway she got annoyed with me today as I kept showing her how good I am at rein back when she got on
frown.gif
- called me 'T*sser' again so I think it must be a compliment. Anyway she made me go to the field with jumpies and I got really excited as I haven't done jumpies for ages but she just made me walk and trot said 'It was good for me as I was being a t*sser' If something is good shouldn't I like it??
confused.gif

Anyway my sister Inca says chillout in pony jail - she is nuts I hate pony jail too!!

Hey Nixon,

I know what you mean about hunting being fun! I don't even mind jumping over things so much if everyone else is doing it too.

I don't mind water if I can see what's in it, and the things I can see aren't sharks.

You know rein-back too? I learned it a little while ago, and I was so proud! But I think the Carrot Lady doesn't want any spontaneous demonstrations, just like she says she doesn't want any "unpremeditated lateral movements". I think maybe she means that time I left the arena in canter half-pass at E going the right way round, when I was apparently supposed to be cantering a circle the left way around. So apparently they don't like you to do better movements than "prelim"?

Hi Spooky
My mum took me into the big field where we normally go round in circles and there were 'things' in there that shouldnt be there. She insisted i had to go into the field with them, but i just planted myself in the gate way, well for all i knew they could bite, leap out and make horrid noises at me or even have horrid monstors hiding underneath them
shocked.gif
My mum kept saying to me that the 'things' wouldnt hurt me it was only a trailer and a commentary box, but how could i be so sure. Eventually she got off and led me over to them, which was ok because these things never attack when mum is on the floor to protect me
smirk.gif
anyway i ended up feeling a bit silly as she was right and the things didnt do anything at all that was scary, but you can never be too sure!
Anyway we then did some jumping and i thought i had better make up for being silly earlier and i made sure i jumped all the fences first time, my mum said i was a very very clever pony and i got 3 carrots off her for it, i think i may try that again - or then again, jumps hide monstors as well!

Keep up the good spooking, we need to keep ourselves safe as well as keeping the carrot people on their toes!

(we had a show in the field today hence trailer and commentary box left in there!)

Dear Yellow Pony,

it's really scary when things look different from how they normally do! It sounds like your Carrot Lady is very nice and understanding to you, though.

To Spooky
I know! I think the scariest thing is when a gate was open when you walked past it earlier but then the next time you go past its shut!
shocked.gif
Now thats just freaky, i mean how does that even happen!
smirk.gif
And you know when grass goes that funny yellowy browny colour and is much shorter? Yikes, i swear if you tread in it you'll sink or something! and dont get me started on the big green thing that lives on the corner of the barn, i know it hasnt moved once, but its just the perfect hiding place for monstors and i just know one day it will suddenly jump out and attack me!
My mummy trys very hard to be nice to me but i can tell i wind her up and she calls me a big frustration, i think thats a good thing tho!
