the cat I rescued, just died :(

What a lovely old cat he looked and how lucky was he to have you find him!! What a shame it wasn't years ago but at least he did get to live the ''good life'' in the end.
There wouldn't have been anything you could have done and whilst the overiding feeling at the moment will be sadness you should take heart from the fact he had a wonderful time with you while you had him.
He died a much loved and special cat and that is all thanks to you. Many would have left him or handed him in and not thought about him again.
You have given him the best of times.

I agree with this wholeheartedly , you finding him and him finding you was a stroke of luck - every animal deserves to have some love in their life - however short a time that turns out to be - sadly there are 1000's like him just waiting for their luck to turn! :(

That's made tears fall down my cheeks.

Some people are so cruel.

He must have felt like the proverbial cat that got the cream when he found you. You let him live out his last weeks as happy as larry. At 19 that was probably all he wanted - and although the vet gave his cause of death "a name" - I am sure it would have simply been a case of "old age". He was a lucky cat in the end wasn't he, and he would have known that - and been grateful to you for it.

Big hug

xxxx

Massive massive ((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))) to you. You did all you could for this lovely little cat. The poor wee mite had been shut in a garage all his life :( But in his last two months you showed him humans could be kind and you showed him the love he truly deserved. I'm shore he will be forever greatful to you for that and he wouldn't want you to beat yourself up now.
He was so lucky to find you. Be proud of all you did for him.

RIP little cat xxxxx :( not all humans are bad.

What a lucky cat to have been found by you. I'm sorry that he didn't have longer, but that is a very good age for a cat. How lovely to have finally found love, warmth and security with you.

So sorry to hear this. As so many have said, 19 is a great age for a cat and I doubt there was anything you could have done. The last 2 months of his life he was loved and cared for, lucky little cat.

What a gorgeous chap! A true moggy!!!

You should be proud of yourself for giving him such a loving home.

I thought I'd be too grief stricken to have any more cats, after Toppy died in December, but in January we adopted Midnight from a cat rescue centre. She's got her issues, but I love her, and she has helped me recover from the loss of Toppy.

Perhaps, when you're feeling less raw from the loss, you could give another cat a home? You've obviously got a lot of love to give, taking in a cat at such an age is a lovely thing to do.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that.

RIP little cat, gone but never forgotten. xxx

OMG! This has made me cry :( those pics are just gorgeous, what a sweet boy he was.

Poor poor kitty. You did such a wonderful thing in giving him love and kindness for the last couple of months. What a lucky boy!

As for his previous owner, I am so  but I salute you for giving him a happy loving home and to show him love and comfort and that not all humans are evil.

You did all you could for him and you should be so proud of that ((HUG))

RIP lovely kitty xxx

Aww I'm sorry :(
Atleast you gave him the happy ending he longed for!
What I don't understand though, is why the RSPCA didn't take him? I don't get that place anymore, I used to be a huge supporter of them and that's slowly slipping down the drain :(

((((Big hugs)))) xx

Hugs to you Rocky715

He wouldn't have had those two (fantastic) extra months if you hadn't of been so kind hearted in taking him. It's as though he hung on to life after you found him by the road side because he knew you loved him.

Thank you everyone for being so lovely! It was really sad going to bed last night without the little bundle of fluff snuggling in! I think it will just take a little time. Strange - I only had him two months but it felt like forever!!

You are right though - I can be happy for the fact that I found him, and brought him back to being a lot healthier than he was. He was so happy whilst he was here - so I just need to hold onto that!

Regarding the RSPCA - they wouldn't take him or pay for any of his vet treatment because they said it wasn't in their interests as they had deemed him un-rehomeable (due to being partially deaf and blind)! But.... it meant that I got to look after him and enjoy him for two months.

Thank you all again xxx

You did a lovely and kind thing giving him the best 2 months of his life even if they were the last. I wish there were more people out there like yourself. He will be resting in peace and happiness now.

Some people do not deserve to have beautiful animals such as his previous owner.

What a dear little cat. He looks so happy all snuggled up. He must have been so happy to have found you. You have absolutely nothing to reproach yourself for. It's lovely that you gave him a lovely life at the end.

What a wonderful thing to do for that cat.
You gave him a lovely last 2 months of his life and he didn't suffer in the end.
I highly doubt there is anymore you could of done for him.
**Big hugs**
