Hannah has been really restless all night. Her alarm started going off at 5am and then when nothing happened, I reset it and it went off a further 3 times. At 6.10am the first livery arrived to muck out, and as soon as she heard a car she got down and started having contractions for about 15 minutes or so. She got up and had a few more and then seemed to settle.

I phoned the vet and they said to give them a call in 30 minutes. I went back in to check her at 7.30am and she had sticky stuff coming from her vulva, down her tail and on her bottom. I phoned the vets back in an absolute panic that something was wrong and she told me it was the cervical plug coming out and foaling would be in the next 24 hours!

I have just nipped home to pick up some essentials while a friend watches her from the caravan and thought I would keep you all informed.

She keeps pawing a lot and looking at her belly, but her waters have not broken yet. The vets are popping up to check on her just to make sure everything is ok, but the vet said that was more so they know what stage she is at if I phone later on.

OOoo how exciting Becki!!!!

I said I wanted the bubba to be born today as it's my son's 13th Birthday.

Soo....later today and a colt please! Nice hunky black colt.

Bloody bloody horses... she chose to start when people started coming of all times!

I didn't even know about the cervical plug, that is not in my foaling bible. I am thinking of writing a new one, as there are a lot of things I have learned that are not in there!

Becki when her waters break she will produce foalie within minutes.
They are not like people.
Get yourself back down there and keep an eye on her.

Thanks Sallyf... I needed to pop home to get some food (I didn't eat last night due to going out for lunch) and needed to send an email as have a meeting this afternoon that I am obviously going to have to postpone.

I know one thing, my girl is not good with pain. She kept panicking when I left her (had to go in because was worried about the foaling alarm digging in to her shoulder as had slipped a little). She just kept putting her head on my arm saying, "Love me!"

Oh bless her, poor love. Think she wants 'mum' to be with her when it all starts.
