Is it wrong that I'm quite looking forward to it, if only because it won't be blowing a gale with horizontal rain. My horses have been back out whilst it is windy because there are large trees above the stables, but will be back in tonight.

I have a lesson Sat morning and wanted to get Chester clipped before because he is so fuzzy but I don't think I'm going to get chance unless I do it before the lesson... and find some superglue!

Whats everyone elses plan for the cold snap or is it just me looking forward to it like a crazy lady :-)

I'm looking forward to the cold - just because it'll finally stop flaming raining! I've been soaked 2 nights on the run now and looks like I'm in for another soaking tonight :(

I read that you were due -6C and snow :(

Lag your pipes, stock up on grit, get your car packed with all the usual shovel, salt (kitty litter) etc, search out your gloves and hats and sort out your contingency plans.

Snow forecast here for the weekend, all of 1cm!

Its late in the year, we usually get seasons here, so yes - its going to get cold at some point :)
We were just lucky (depending how you look at things) to have a prolonged warm autumn :)

I read this yesterday, it made me smile :

TEMPERATURES in the UK are going to fall sharply over the coming weeks because that is what happens at this time of year.

Meteorologists believe that winter, a spell of short, cold days commonly defined as a season, will be more or less exactly what you would expect.

Professor Henry Brubaker of the Institute for Studies said: “Household fuel costs will rise considerably as families try to increase the temperature of their homes.

“People on the verge of death may die.

“Ice and snow will create icy, snowy conditions.

“Your car will refuse to start.

“Because it’s winter.

“It’s really nothing to freak out about, unless you’re a pre-Neanderthal cave dweller who believes sunsets are caused by Gark, the angry moon god.”

He added: “There’s a high probability that this winter will be followed by another sudden, weather-related phenomenon known as spring.”

Housewife Nikki Hollis said: “The important thing is to stay inside, carry a flaming torch at all times and don’t be sentimental about eating your plumpest child.”

Enfys :biggrin3: I read that too, made me smile after reading the usual 'panic, its winter' posts :D

:D :D :D

I like winter. No bugs, Blue sky and sunshine, and excellent riding once the snow is deep enough to cover the frozen ground.

I ride as normal, just in ski gear (minus the skis ;) ) February is usually the stay indoors month because it gets a little chillier then.

One of my favourite poems for Winter ...

It’s winter in ****** (insert appropriate place name)
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At thirty-five below.
Oh, how I love ******
When the snow’s up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I’ll hang around
I could never leave ******
'Cos I’m frozen to the ground!

:D

Im looking forward to some cold weather. Much prefer cold, clear days to wet, misty ones. Hopefully it will help to dry out the mud, and riding on a cold, clear and hopefully, sunny day is my idea of heaven.

I'm pleased as it's better than this awful wind and rain, but wish it would wait a few days as I'm clipping tomorrow and would rather they have a few days to adjust to no hair! They're still living out at the moment so I delayed clipping but now wish I'd done it a fortnight ago. I'm hoping they can still stay out, well rugged, but not sure if it'll be too much of a shock if it's really cold!

Weather

Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather be not
Whether the weather be cold
Or whether the weather be hot
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather
Whether we like it or not.

We can't stop the weather, it happens, the trick to coping with whatever is thrown at you is to be prepared for all eventualities, don't rely on others, get yourself sorted out.
Extreme cold is not a problem if you are dressed and ready for it

Yay!! I'm sick of the constant rain and ankle deep mud. The bugs are still all over and it shouldn't be 17degrees at night in November :/ this time last year i swear I was cracking iced over water troughs

Yay....Though please hold the snow off a little while.longer if we are having any.... Just brought the spotty one a new heavy weight and he grew out of his last one so.he is all set for winter to arrive

Looking forward to it, sick of rain rain rain rain....I love cold frosty days, the ground being dry instead of the bog it is at the moment......WAIT I live in the SE so it will still just rain and rain....no snow and frost for us , just grot.....

I can't wait. My fields are actually flooded and a tree got blown down on top of someone's car at work. (Very exciting). Native hairy ponies don't seem to mind completely waterlogged field but I do.

I have just built my quarter mega watt boiler system ,mwahahahaha. Bring it on I say !PS, anyone got an Island with a volcano ,going cheap?
