Some of you may remember me saying I wanted chickens, which prompted some doom-saying by a friend who seemed to think that by some convoluted butterfly effect, getting chickens would lead to my house falling down around my ears. Anyway, I ignored her and here they are!
Meet Coronation or "Corrie" and Nugget.
Corrie was bought for me by my mum, a life long Coronation Street watcher and Nugget was bought for me by my sister who has a weird habit of insulting people by calling them "nuggets". Both names fitted in with my idea of naming them after chicken recipes.

Thank you. One is a Coucou de Rennes and the other is a "black laying hen" (most likely some form of Marans cross). Looking forward to lots of fun with them and lots of eggs!

You learn something new everyday. I understood the Nugget reference to chicken recipes, but had to google Coronation chicken recipe. Sounded quite yummy.
Are you planning on staying with 2, or do you have plans on adding e.g. a Marsala or Kiev?

Aw lovely. We used to have hens - ex bats.

Don't forget good quality grit for them, they will repay you in quality yummy eggs for years.

I'm sure I will! I'll probably have a collection of all different coloured hen houses to go with them.

I'm obviously still getting to know them but Nugget seems bolder than Corrie. It might have something to do with her being huge.
