i have a trailer and jeep and am out most weekends with my 2 horses competing, im looking in2 getting a little lorry and was just wondering what your views were on the running costs etc, the lorry im looking at needs taxed and tested and i dont know the 1st thing about this its a 3 horse non-hgv does anyone know rough estimate prices? we go away with the horses quite a bit throughout the summer so i just think it would be handy to have the living etc just there rather than camping- all opinions welcome!

depending on your age, you might need to take another test to drive a 3-horse lorry.
get it weighed unladen, make sure you can carry 2 horses + all kit + water tanks +full tank of diesel without going over 7.5 tonnes.
costs depend on age of lorry, obv. annual plating can be v expensive or v cheap! i think 1 year's road tax is £160 for that size, but ii'm not positive.
must admit, having had a trailer first, then lorries, there's no going back if you can afford it. the pleasure of having somewhere to sit, change, put everything etc, plus the fact that the horses travel better and you can cruise a bit quicker, make a huge difference.
