Taking both ponios to local show soon, cost of transport and entry fees will be a huge £168, how does your every day rider afford to go to shows?

You have to be selective in the shows you want to enter. Share transport if possible or hack to the local shows.
At the price your are stating I would imagine the rental of your transport is the lion's share.

Costs are ridiculous I think - competed at BE events on a day ticket and you're looking at £27 for the tickets plus your entry fees (intro from £48 to £56) and then £10 starting fee plus fuel. You're looking at over £100/horse and you don't get anything if you get placed either "prizes in kind" (I'd rather have money thanks!). Couldn't afford to become a member. I went to one event and I really couldn't see how they could justify the charges as the organisation was pretty rubbish and it was an affiliated event so we hadn't even paid for decent service as it were!

BSJA's the same - soo expensive to be a member (although I know they are offering discounts/incentives now). Someone's definitely getting rich out there!

It is getting to be quite expensive. Everything is costing more, partricularly diesel to get to the event!
I worked out I saved over £100 by not going to a show recently (still quaranntined out by strangles, grrrrr)

i am very selective about where i go now, i try to stay as local as i can, by the time you add the cost of diesel, and entry fees etc you are looking at £50 or more for an outing!!
