ETS - HANG ON A SECOND....having re-read the article, am I to understand that a WOMAN commissioned these pics and is the brains behind them - oh my, I am now speechless!
wwhether you agree with the pictures or not ,not alot of difference from being pictured in biknis which tend to be lacking of materail at least they are covering bits up, seen much worse on atheletes and skintight swimwear.
Sorry I TOTALLY disagree! The girls would have looked better in bikinis anyway, rolling in the hay with boots and whips and cheap white knickers is NEVER going to be a good look!
echoing de weevil, anyone want to eat a bit of humble pie about publicity........
Weezy, toatlly agree with what you say about the pictures and i posted a link to the photographers web site on the other thread, clearly SHE is not any expert on this sort of shot.
jaffs, from the statement it seems that the person responsible was maria clayton and i would say she has made a huge error but i dont like to think of people losing jobs over one mistake, but this was a big one.
cant believe she didnt let chester know what was coming though, it was their damn show alledgedly being 'promoted'.
i think its safe to assume a few more will jump ship now and you lot should have heard the comments in the hickstead press tent, from the other riders i might add.
and my spy at chester said it is a great show but there is equally bad feeling about the pictures there.
It's cheap, crass and badly done.
Sets the sport back thirty years (and I don't mean to 70s levels of popularity) at least, the BSJA should be ashamed of themselves.
For crying out loud, this is the twentyfirst century. Marketing should be about intelligence and subtlety.
Well done Barclays for pulling out, and I hope others do, too.
Who wants to be involved in the scummiest, News of the World of sports?
I think this is one of the most old-fashioned and tackiest PR stunts I've ever seen.
I can understand that BSJA wants to regain the popularity it had in the 70's, but these photos just show that it hasn't progressed in terms of womens rights since then.
As show jumping is one of the few sports where men and women compete on level terms, this PR stunt was the worst possible image IMO. I am glad that Barclays at least has a better level of understanding of what is acceptable and what is not.
