I used to keep a spreadsheet of how much I was spending on George each month, I don't anymore it was far too terrifying!!

I was unfortunate enough to have a years worth of outgoings for 2 affiliated eventers added up for me by eventing magazine a few years ago, including all the deisel etc it came to £19,000 a year

Hid the copy from my father and have never ever ever tried to add anything up ever again!!! Kept thinking of sex and the city where carrie realises the deposit for her appartment is all in her shoes!! Imagine all the shoes i could have had instead by now!!!

Count yourself lucky! My mare costs me around £300 per month for drugs and has been doing so for the last 5 years, and about £200 per month for the previous 8 years. Then there is the £150 per month for petrol, and all the normal stabling, feed, bedding costs on top...

And I don't even ride any more!

Next time I'm having a goldfish!!

How I look at it now is that yes, I could put that money towards something sensible like another house, car etc etc. But all the money spent on my horse provides me with experience and learning which is far more valuable! But somehow I can't bring myself to tell my parents quite how much I spend a month!!!
