So the cute beige one has not been to any parties yet as I have been rather concentrating on the grumpy bay one. Today I managed to rope my husband in (he must have been feeling spectacularly weak after his 50mile cycle ride yesterday to agree to come SJ) so I braved taking them both. I had four fault-itis on the grumpy bay one, and no pics or vids, so we'll gloss over him and concentrate on the cute beige one!

The cute beige one is 6, and aside from hunting with his last owner, has done nothing, and this was his first party. He's done some group lessons with me, been XC schooling, and jumped some courses in lessons, and he's been good as gold in everything he's been asked to do, so today I thought I'd take him SJ. This is what he looked like before Xmas when he arrived:

Well, the warmup was rather overwhelming for him, so discretion being the better part of valour and all that, I decided walking round the car park was our best bet. Unorthodox, but effective ;)

We missed the 2ft6, so he went straight in at 2ft9. I think the best way to describe it, was effective rather than stylish (I have a vid but have not watched back so do not know if it is suitable for forum consumption yet!) - but he jumped everything in front of him, and barring the last fence in the jump off, left them all up too, and for a first outing, I don't think you can ask for more than that really, can you?

Picture (I have permission to post because the incredibly forward thinking Craig Derrick sells you a print and a CD with no copyright for £15, so huge thanks to him, all venues should have a photographer like him! Friendly staff, sensible prices and I can post the pic wherever I like including in adverts). You'll have to excuse my riding, this took all my concentration bless him as he was a bit over-awed!:

Bit of a difference from the first picture?! I am very pleased with him, he's a dude. I think he may get to stay till next year and go to some more parties, it was good fun feeling him gain confidence, and I would quite like to do some little ODEs on him I think.

ETA: Please all note my matchy-matchy SJ style - saddlecloth and jump ;)

I know! How funny is that first pic?! Note how he was so fat the neckstrap which now hangs neatly round his neck is digging in! He loves to jump, and is generally very straight and easy. I think today the millions of whizzy ponies in the warmup, plus his mate the grumpy bay one being on the lorry (and in earshot ), the stuff travelling through the carpark, the ring with stuff going on and the loudspeakers just distracted him a bit!

Cute beige one is gorgeous!! Massive difference between the pics. Sounds like a very confident first outing!!

Matching oneself to the jumps??! HA!! Maybe I should match me and Bruce to the DR boards? Oh. Wait.

Fab report and what a great photographer!

Did you not also note the saddle cloth matching the snow in the first pic? TBH I think you dressage lot with your bandages/saddlecloths/tops all matching just don't try hard enough ;) ;)

He is very cute isn't he? The grumpy bay one is so fond of him, he spent the whole of his two classes whickering at a random dun horse which was walking past. He's not bright.

Cute beige one is turning into a golden boy - not so beige any more :)- You can't sell 'til next year as I am still lusting after another golden pony and rather like the idea of him I have to say ;)

Hah!!! He seems like he has masses of potential, you must be v excited - even if he is a little dense ;)

(Will start matching oneself to arena background/surface in future!!)

No, it was the grumpy bay one who was too stupid to realise that it was right colour, wrong horse! The cute beige one does have a lot of potential, but I fear may be too difficult to get quite fit enough to do more than low level eventing due to the dumbblood portion of his breeding :(

Lookin' good, SC, he's very, very cute. :D I may have to register a complaint about the matchy matchyness though, or is it case of she who doth protest too much actually rather likes matchy matchy. ;) :D

Cute! I do love Duns and he is very lovely. He's making a nice shape over that fence too. :)

I too think Craig Derrick do a good deal on photos, I bought 3 for £30 the other week and they let me combine pics from Summerhouse and Hartpury too. I'd even be happy not to have the actual prints for that so they are just a bonus.

Lovely boy. He is exactly what my friend is looking for to buy now! What size and breeding is he?

He's 15.1ish (possibly 15.2 as he's levelled up since I bought him when he was a bit bum high). I am just very short ;)

His Czech passport would have you believe he's a pure warmblood, but let's face it, there's connie in there, isn't there? And also, my knowledge of Czech is precisely nil, so maybe it does say he is connie x WB! Anyway, part-bred WB with a splash of native is my best guess.

He's very cute, incredibly easy to hack (nanny to the grumpy bay one!), and loves people, he wants to be your best friend! I took him XC schooling and he was fab, so I think he can go and do some ODEs this summer.

He sounds fab! If you decide you want to sell him this year get in touch haha. He really is my friends dream horse from the sound and look of him!
