The day we are dreading

My heart goes out to you both. We've had our old TB put down today, too. I hope that Sir's passing went as smoothly as our experience. We couldn't have wanted better professionals to deal with everything.

The only sure thing about horses is that one day they break your heart.

So sorry to read this Esther.

Sir was gracious to the end, the vets were fab, and all in all a bad day was a good as it could have been if that makes sense! ( strangely the worst bit was Chris Moyles playing Knocking on Heavens Door as we loaded to leave the yard for the vets:))

You certainly are right, they do break your heart x

So sorry for you loss.
I lost my boy nearly 8 weeks ago. It does get easier although you may not think the pain you and your family are feeling now will ease - it does. Try to remember Sir and smile.
Take care.

Trying to read the screen through a haze of tears . . . what a brave and selflesh thing you have done for him today - and how your heart must have broken. Was thinking about you all day.

Best wishes - Sir sounds like a true gentleman - and I absolutely loved the pictures you shared.

My thoughts are with you DK, AB and Esther.

God bless Sir and Joe who will no doubt meet at the horsey equivalent of the pearly gates and run together in the green fields on the other side.

Alwaysbroke - that makes perfect sense and I know exactly where you're coming from. It will hit me later, I'm sure, but at the moment I feel a strange sense of calm knowing that we did absolutely the right thing in exactly the right way at exactly the right time. Yesterday was worse when we knew what was coming.

Mind you, I think Joe will be off doing a bit of haunting before he gives up the ghost entirely. The grumpy ol' booger won't be one to rest in peace, I don't think. He'll be wanting to scare a few people first.

I cannot see the pics on my works PC but will check out at home.

I am so sorry for your loss and words will not be able to express how you will feel Wednesday but I hope you get through it and can remember the fun times and experiences and know that you did everything you possibly could for your pony

What a lovely tribute to a horse of a life time. I have never heard of a horse more suited to his name. wonderful pictures, he looked so noble.
I am sure this is just the most horrible day for you all. I lost my wee boys pony a year and a half ago and it was just heartbreaking. The vet involved made it a lot more bearable to deal with due to his compassion and gentle handling of wee minty.
I hope mini DK is ok, it is so hard on children, it took my lad a long time to recover from losing Minty.
Thinking of you all today and will raise a glass to Sir tonight. Run Free Sir xx

What a lovely tribute to a gorgeous horse, my thoughts are with you.

Love the story of how he got his name, but the rest of the post had me nearly in tears

Such a hard decision to make, I feel for you I really do. Having recently lost our old boy at the age of 25 in not a very nice manner, I know how hard it will be. You will never forget him and he will always look over you. Hugs (((((((((())))))))))
