Got a test your dogs IQ book in P@H yesterday, we're both getting bored being stuck indoors (can't push the puggy through the snow!) so thought it might keep us entertained of an evening.

First test. Place a towel over your dogs head and time how long he takes to remove it. Three and a half minutes later, Boss lies down, having given up standing like a lemon waiting for someone else to remove it and promptly falls asleep under said towel. Div. Nil points.

Wow, that is quick, and oooh, cider....... I am off alcohol for january, stupid resolutions, I'm jealous of your super clever dog and your alcohol (in that order).

B sort of swayed from side to side, one foot to the other, got a good momentum going and then got his paw on it and pulled it off (he is very 'tactile', he uses his paws a lot!

Henry is the genius so far!

When your dog is lying or sitting of his own accord, sit around 6ft in front of him and stare at him intently, when he looks at you count to three and then smile broadly.

5 points if your dog comes to you promptly with his tail wagging
4 points if he comes slowly or only part of the way, or with no tail wag
3 points if she stands or rises to a sit, but doesn't move towards you
2 points if he moves away from you
0 points if he pays no attention.

Surprise surprise, nil points for Boss, lazy git looked at me like I was a madwoman, didn't even lift his head. Hmphf.

My dog is a genius.

He waited for me to get up to get the towel and then stole my spot on the sofa and refused to move

kizzy just stood waiting for me to take the towel back off, and when i took it back off she looked at me as much as to say what we doing now mam?, she didnt even bother to look when i sat on the floor

chaos shuck the towel off straight away, and came to see me wagging his tail
so i have a stupid dog and a genius dog lol

I didnt do the tea towel as it'd completely cover her

but did the smile thing and she wagged her tail and came right over and clambered onto my knee.

Leah wouldn't let me get the towel over her head to start with! After a few minutes of chasing her round the room waving a towel, I gave up. So I don't know how Leah scores, except that it's better than me!

I've done the IQ test on Leah before, she came out quite well. Not quite genius, but smart.

LMAO at these results.

I tried it on Boston, got it over his head, it was off within a second, unfortunately my tea towel is now in shreds and spread all over my garden as the other two assumed it was a new toy and all three took off at a gallop playing three way tug of war! RIP towel.

I am not sure that the test was conclusive as this is a dog that has happily taken on a coyote daring to venture on to his turf but can be backed into a corner and held at bay by a spitting kitten.

1, had trouble getting the towel on (cattle dogs are too darn quick) when I did he was out of it in a second with lots of noise! Tried 2, and got one huge kiss across the face half a tone of dog on my lap and lots of noise and that was before I smiled!!! Are they really mensa dogs??? Oh help!!!

3 seconds for the towel with Evie, and then several more to get her to stop "killing" it. Will take a while for her to lie or sit of her own accord as she is now waiting for the next game

Buffy took about 30 seconds to take the towel off, which quite surprised me as I didn't think she would notice as she can't see very well anyway

No point doing the other test on her as she couldn't see if I was staring at her or not. Too bloomin cold to go outside and test Saffy.
