Apropos of nothing other than wondering how many dogs in the UK today this could have been written about?

The Dog Lovers

So they bought you
And kept you in a
Very good home
Central heating
TV
A deep freeze
A very good home-
No one to take you
For that lovely long run-
But otherwise
'A very good home'
They fed you Pal and Chum
But not that lovely long run,
Until, mad with energy and boredom
You escaped- and ran and ran and ran
Under a car.
Today they will cry for you-
Tomorrow they will buy another dog.

That is so very true! One of the best homes I ever sold a pup to was a lady who lived in a flat in London :eek: First reaction was to run a mile but after speaking to people she had dogs off previously, vets etc I realised a dog could not want for a better home. She was a writer so worked from home, and had an allotment just round the corner where she spent all her free time, she competed the bitch in WT and she had a wonderful life. Yet people with the smartest homes and all mod cons are sometimes looking for a status symbol, not a friend to love (sorry a bit corny that but you know what I mean).
 
Its true MM, where I live now is a very afluent area (god knows why I live here!) but apparently some of the most expensive houses in the country are around here...I can't think of a house around that doesnt have a dog or several, I see them at windows and in gardens...everyday when I walk my dogs on what is some of the best walking and footpaths I have ever lived near I can't help but wonder where they all are. At weekends we often see maybe one or two dogs if the weathers nice but generally with walkers/ramblers not locals. There are two ladies with a large pack of assorted terriers and longdogs that walk early mornings on the same route as us, we only bump into them if I get up really early to walk, and the bully across the road I see out occasionally but thats pretty much it!
