If he is okay this morning he will probably be fine, as Vizslak can tell you the effects hit pretty fast. I would just keep an eye on him today and if you are concerned have a word with your vet.
take it that was milk chocolate toblerone? At her weight with that amount of milk choc she is well within safe limit thats 3.52 ounces and she weighs about 70 pounds. Milk choc is toxic at approximately 1 ounce per pound of body weight. Therefore she would need to eat 70 ounces to be serverly affected, thats nearly 2 kgs! Might have an upset tummy today but should show no other ill effects.
Our GSD x Collie stole and scoffed some extremely rich (and expensive) plain chocolate and (strong) whiskey chcoolate things the other week. I think she ate 3 fingers sort of kit kat size. Surprisingly she suffered no ill effects whatsoever although my mum did have to go and replace the chocs as they were a present for my for my dad!
I am currently building a website about the dangers of chocolate, be warned Im struggling with the calculator at the moment, about to ask for Javascript help in soapbox, it does work for dark choc but not the others. I only started building it today but worth a look http://dogsandchocolate.weebly.com/index.html
the dark choc calc doesnt even work now damn me and my over ambition! I had 3 calcs working perfectly well earlier then I decided it would be better with a drop down and now I have re confused myself!
Well done Vizzy, I think Milos story will stick in everyones mind for ever more.
I think this should be printed out and put on the wall of every vet in the land so everyone is aware of the dangers and consequences and how speed in getting your dog to the vet is essential.
Dog is fine, that will teach me for not scoffing the whole bar in one go! She is a shocking thief I'm afraid and chocolate on table seems to be as accessible as were it on the floor
I will now either eat it all in one go or put it on the shelf.
