The elephant in the room

Hello! Thanks all for the replies - v nice of you to be so supportive!

Whoop Whoop :)

Really pleased for you, we all have our white elephants! Super photo, you look good together :)

Thanks - well, he looks good!

Well done viv and I am a witness to Charlotte - esq dressage success.. it just needs to be repeated at BE!
And hopefully the corners are no longer white elephants!! Xx

Argh! It's a bit odd, isn't it.

Well done on conquering the corner! And thanks for another entertaining report!

Thanks!

Lovely report; well done, you should have had an enormous rosette for competing with baby and toddler in tow!

Think husband needed the rosette for looking after them.

Was cheering every fence - go you!

Thanks!

Well done as always - glad you overcame that Elephant :) :)

Yes - sit up and kick!

I don't know how you get the time to write these reports, let alone compete a horse whilst looking after a toddler and breastfeeding a newborn! Incredible, bonkers, but amazing :D :)

Well toddler was asleep and baby was boobing, I guess!

Well I think you should write a regular column for H&H, what a well put together, entertaining and true to life report. I felt like I was on Vito tackling that course myself! I sympathise with the breastfeeding joys and you deserve a huge pat on the back, or indeed a large gin sling for competing with young ones in tow .... That has GOT to be stressful! ...I find it hard work simply getting mine mucked out with the 2 children around! I haven't even started riding at all yet 6 months post baby.

Well done you.

Ah, yes, gin would help.

Excellent, well done on the elephant bashing :D

Fairly jealous of your figure, looking great for someone with a small baby! Mine is 8 months old and I don't look half as trim as you :)

Optical illusion of the camera!

Great read... I usually get bored half way through ... but read to end ... very amusing and a tale well told...

Ha thank you!

Bloody well done :)

Thanks!

I like this one....

You really are super-woman; juggling to small children, husband, job, AND keeping an eventing horse fit and ready to go. Another great report, and best of luck for the season ahead! I always love reading your reports, they are so honest as well as witty. :)

Ah, well no job at the moment. I am on materna-holiday again!! You are giving me too much credit.

As entertaining as ever! Thank you for these great reports!

Thanks!

This was great - was cheering you on all the way through. I'm glad it turned out ok - and hopefully the girl who got injured is feeling better!

I hope so, too.

I love your reports! Makes me feel I need to step up though no children here and I find it stressful

Horses are stressful...

That was very funny, I simply don't know how you do it - and look svelte & stylish (which you do, even if you don't think so)

Now hold on. I've definitely never been stylish in my life!

Well done, I just about cope with horse, job and lone toddler to get to the odd RC thing. To keep horse and self fit enough to go round Novice whilst BFing an extra one - my hat's off to you!

Maybe it's the toddler-chasing that keeps me fit?!

Not only are your reports entertaining but you manage to write down in such a lighthearted way what I and I am sure most other one horse riders go though at each event (omitting the baby and leaking boobs of course!)

Well done on getting back to Nov so quickly and in good style.

Where are you next?

Do you? That's good, glad I'm not alone in this!! Hambledon next and then Chilham. And then... Well, then.

Fantastic! Good elephant conquering.

Thanks!

Another great report! Brilliant. I am so impressed. I got back on board 5 weeks post-baby for a quiet hack, and you're out winning BD and conquering those corners!

The BD winning is a bit bats, isn't it.

Firstly, brilliant report. Loved reading it.

Secondly...I couldn't resist flicking through the pics in that album and some of them are just amazing!!! :)

Oh thanks! Think there are some from our efforts at Int last year.

Brilliant, well done you! And Vito! And hubby! And kids! What a great day with lots of positives, even though the boob leakage tried to sabotage your efforts! ;)

Corner demons can hopefully be put to rest. Onwards and upwards back at Novice.

Really pleased you're out there again and doing so fantastically! :)

Thank you! The boob is v annoying this time round.

Brilliant report, seriously impressive to be back competing so quickly and conquering those corners!

Thanks!

Great report, well done

Thank you!

wow, a very huge well done. With a toddler and a baby that is no mean feat in any shape or form. :)

Husband does most of the looking after at events.

As ever I am truly amazed by your energy, and a fab write up for a fab result! I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant and itching to get back on and compete again. I love reading your reports as it shows that it is possible, (if very exhausting!)! Well done team! :)

How is it going?

I totally get the whole elephant thing. Was very glad to see our SOE corner was right handed but still managed to mess it up by getting jumped off the side of the saddle the jump before, sitting up then grabbing frantically at reins and hoiking him back to nothing so he had to launch over the corner from nothing. If it had been a left one we'd have been screwed! Why do they cause such problems? Sure it's all in our heads! Sounds like a pretty good first Novice since BC though. Where next?

How is it going?

Bored- Stopped riding 6 weeks ago as kept getting stitch and seemed pointless, horses fat and lazy in field! I shouldn't complain as health wise I've been super lucky so far but have decided that pregnancy is just too long, I would be much more on board with the whole thing if it was meant to be 6/7 months! :)

A brilliant report OP; very entertaining & honest. Brilliant BD result & congratulations on conquering the elephant. Look forward to reading more...

Am recovering from an operation yesterday so need entertaining although doped to the eyeballs atm!

Such a brilliant post- the others are right, you should fill all those spare hours you have in the day (!!) since you are on materni-holiday writing a column for H&H!!
Keep it up, every time you go out you will conquer another elephant :-)

He still went, though? I know, it's so silly! We jump far bigger spreads, skinnies, etc, but put a pointy end on it and it's a different kettle of fish!

Oh dear, yes, I sympathise! You feel truly ready to pop it out by the end, don't you.

Oh dear, are you recovering well? My posts are best read when doped, though.

Ha! Funny you should say that! I did enter their "next top blogger" competition, but unfortunately didn't win. So you lot have to keep putting up with me on here, instead.
