I was there on Friday, and although I agree that bearing mind how close to home this was, the attendance of British fans was poor, I had the most fantastic time.
I enjoyed the atmosphere, the shopping and the course was excellent. I remain slightly baffled how a course builder like Bob Ellis failed to take into account the traditional windy conditions of an outdoor SJ competition, resulting in once fence blowing down no less than three times. But you can't win 'em all!
Highlight of my day? My photo with Tim Stockdale in the warm up ring! I swear I was like a 15 year old. I could barely speak!
I also loved the fact that after the competition, all of the riders to the time to come to the public bar and "mingle". That sort of thing never happens at Olympia and i was totally Starry eyed. Sound ridiculous, but i've admired these guys for years and to be stood next to Tim, Geoff, Ben & Robert was a real dream for me. I wouldn't be happier if it was Brad Pitt!
