Sadly it was a disastrous outing - missed out on an 'easy' (no other clear rounds!) win in the agility class for the sake of a really daft missed tunnel entry. Then in the jumping class she suddenly ran under two jumps, unknown for her, so we retired and when I ran her up in the car park she was a little lame on a hind leg. :(

Please everybody keep everything clenched that she's ready to go again for the 31st, we're booked in for our first big KC show and I am already pooping bricks. :o

I was hoping you'd post some of you agility dag! She does look fab. Hope her leg is alright and you make it to the next show :)

What really great photos they are fab, you were very unlucky not to get a win and then to finish lame. She looks great and is a credit to your hard work.

Fingers crossed she has just landed awkwardly and is soon sound enough for your next show.

The vet thinks it's just a muscular tweak/sprain, she has been working very hard of late, I never thought I'd see the day I managed to ask her to do too much! She's had a few days of anti-inflams and seems absolutely fine now although we're taking it very steady. :)

All credit to the photographer, he took a bazillion of us as he'd never seen a sibe doing it before. :D

Yes Blanche I am unbelievably proud of her, none of this has come easy but it's been worth every second.

One for you CC if it will show up:

Glad it is just a tweak, she looks to be going brilliantly in those photos. I know the rules have changed quite a bit but maybe its as well she didn't win a class so early in her career, it used to be a real pain back in the 80s if you won your way out of classes too soon.

No recent videos I'm afraid, only ones from when we were starting out which are a bit cringeworthy with hindsight, my handling was even worse than it is now. :p

It was only an unaff show MM so no worries about winning out yet, they have their own progression system so we could have two wins at their version of grade one before we have to move up a class. They're very accommodating like that and with heights and so on, as you can see they cater for not just the controversial fourth height but also a fifth and you can run your dogs 'odds and bods' at a lower height than they measure for separate awards.

However the one at the end of the month is a proper offishul KC show. Eek! Winning out is still not a worry though, she will never be as quick as a collie. We might go up a grade on points in about five years. :p

But if you are going down the KC route you can enter ABC classes.... :)

We have 2 UKA shows booked in for the next month! Eek! :) :)

Exactly - only there's no shows with ABC classes anywhere near us so if we're going to make a trek and camp at some far-flung show I need to be sure she won't swiftly exit the ring first, hence the little tester at Catton Park. :p :D

Good luck at your shows, I don't think there's any UKA near us either but I've heard lots of praise for their events. :)

Oh that is annoying! It's something that attracts me to the KC shows.... but at the moment I'm doing UKA as there a few shows fairly locally.

I've heard plenty of +ves and -ves about both systems! lol!

Don't panic too much about her running off. I know her breeding is prob making you worry more, but it sounds like you've done a lot of practise so she probably has good drive now. Are you entering Nursery Classes ? (sorry, that may only be a UKA thing) as they are usually in enclosed rings I am told. I had the same worry about H when I took him to his first one last year. Luckily (touch wood!) he was good as gold, but there were dogs flying in and out of arenas fairly frequently!! Mainly Tollers!!! ha ha! Everyone was really helpful and friendly. :)

The one I've booked in for is run by Adams Agility and was specially chosen as they have netted rings which is unusual for KC. :) I will be briefing everyone surrounding the rings though in how to bodily tackle her just in case...

She is pretty good now, the two we've done so far have been in an indoor manege with netted rings and she's shown no inclination to disappear, I just have to set her up well and most importantly never take my eyes off her, I will do anything to avoid a blind cross. :p

The whole fourth height debate has sort of passed us by as she is a large large dog but I do wish they'd look at introducing a second tunnel diameter, the big dogs have to really hit the deck to get through whereas the small dogs come out sprinting (often sideways :p).

What lovely photos! I hope that one day I will get some decent photos of my terrier jumping!
I have to say we wouldn't be able to do shows without netting/fencing, he has be known to fly after the pro's (during training!) mid round following their large's over the full height fences! which is no mean feat for a dog of 11inches!

Lovely pics. My Inuit has done some agility and is faster than the collies in a straight run just not so good at the cornering. She also has the bad habit of getting distracted half way through and runs off. Usually jumping over the enclosure netting to go and find someone to play with.....we are havin a bit of a break now as I am pregnant and can't waddle fast enough to keep up!
