- well may be walking as their horses are probably stuck at home with asthma like symptioms...

From Beau:
"The weather is really weird here at the moment! I dont know wether to loose my winter coat or keep it! Last night auntie Natasha put my blue PJ's on as it was hot but by this morning I was wishing she had put my green winter duvet on as it was really cold and windy! And the nasty wind brought all this dust which is just everywhere making me sneeze and the grass taste all funny, I complained to mum but she just gave me some wet hay and a brush which doesn't help. Some times I really wonder about her intelligence!
Today is meant to be our wheee day, but I tried it in the field becasue the wind and flying twigs really are quite exciting but it made my lungs hurt so I coughed and went to mum for sympathy, all she did was give me a carrot.
She ONLY gave me 1!!!! I think I needed deserved about 5 and some grain!
Any way she did say it is meant to get better later and may be we could go out for some fun this afternoon."

From Beau's mum:
Last night we had a massive dry thunderstorm and this morning we woke up to up to an sky!!
Imagine a thick fog then turn it orange and add the taste of dry soil to the air and BINGO! If you get a chance, have a look at the pics online they have not been touched up or exagerated.
Any way thought you might appreciate and update on our weird and wacky weather =)-

I heard about this on the news today, sounds pretty nasty. Hope beau recovers, although I think more carrots might be in order?!

I'm hoping the folks in the eastern states will be nice enough to sweep up our paddocks into a post pack and mail them back!

Hmm yes, not really good the ground being that dry/dusty going into summer is it

Gekko - I would love to sweep it up and send it back but what wasn't inhaled got sent to NZ by the gale force winds that hit around lunch time, may be if we have some Kiwi readers they could help?
If not I hope you have some top soil left...=/

Beau - 'Well we had even MORE wind and the trees started throwing their branches around and it was really rather scary! But it got rid of all the dust and mum came back and took me out for a 'walk'. She said I had to be carefull cause of all the silly dust in my lungs. Luckily I managed to convicer her that with all the horse eating, goanna imitating sticks and branches lying around it really wasnt safe to walk so we went leaping and bounding instead (translate as trot and canter)' and I got lots more carrots for being a 'good boy' =).

God I hope that is not what I was inhaling! I dont want to grow anymore =)
Though it would do my veggie garden the power of good! A couple of kilos of Super Phosphate and Ammonium nitrate...

Poor guys who lost it all though! Dust storms are pretty terrible if you think about what it means in terms of tons of soil, and summer is only just starting.......
