So inspired by MOC's beautiful little update posts on Quarrie, I thought I would bore you all by a Sunday update on my little chicken.
A whole year since https://forums-secure.horseandhound.co.uk/showthread.php?708663-My-puppy-is-a-year-old!

Since then, we have carried on with the on the job training

Her choice of films has come on leaps and bounds

She got over the water phobia

gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "peg dog"

Leant to help in the kitchen

With a little encouragement, she got the hang of swimming properly

Tried incredibly hard to disguise herself enough to get in on the hen party

She is an amazing colour. Lovely. We have just been up in Norfolk and had concluded that all GRs are obese, they obviously don't have to be.☺

Thank you everyone, she really is my lifetime dog - I'm a complete retriever convert

Asides from people thinking she's a lurcher or lab cross, I quite often get told that she is "far too skinny" which used to really annoy me. I've concluded that there aren't actually that many working GRs about, and compared to the heavier set (and often fat) showing lines, they do look a lot smaller and lighter built.

I know why they aren't that commonplace as working dogs though - complete PITA to get clean and dry after a day working. 🙄

She's fabulous. I met a fab golden at a friend's house last night, the more I see them, the more impressed I am. He was a show bred, huge but not fat, massive head.

Oh he's lovely! I do really like the colours of the working breed, some really red boys around us and they are stunning. Looking around yesterday, they do work in a very similar way to the lab, it's just that the labs dry off a lot quicker than my little fluffy lady!

Gorgeous. Love the captions too. A friend/work colleague of mine breeds working GR's that are really dark coloured, the range of shades is lovely.

Gorgeous! and she has kept her lovely toffee colouring too!

So glad she has worked out for you and is doing well at being a serious gundog too. GR are the best!!

I was so unconvinced, my OH likes to remind me of this every time I try to turn him down on a decision now! But yes 100% favourite breed, I want another puppy now!
