Ok lets see what happens this time, attempt no 3 at posting , pc, photo bucket and me all having a moment
So after doing Stafford 80 back in April, then having an abscess, then the dreadful weather, DK decided to risk entering Shelford 90 on the nearly 19hh Vertigo (V)
Late times meant not leaving the yard till after lunch, very weird, I am used to very early mornings when eventing. Got there in good time DK walked the course while mini DK and I mooched by the sjing, giving me enough time to get more and more worried about the double to related distance which looked like it could be an interesting ride on such a big horse.
Time to get ready, taking in the atmosphere and thinking about what is ahead
Dressage warm up
Dressage had some good bits in it, but V can be a worrier, anticipates then panics when he gets it wrong, so some marks were lost on canter to walk transitions that weren't required
DK happy with 35.5 as he knows with time and experience there is more to come.
An hour to wait for sj'ing I bumped into some HHO 's it was lovely to have chat. I then became more and more nervous, I find the sj'ing the most stressful phase so wasn't much use to DK!
Jumped the first nicely then negotiations and discussions on how to approach 2 and 3 resulted in poles down
Jumped 4 nicely then the dreaded double. V suddenly seemed to grow up, listened to DK and jumped it beautifully
Rolled another pole at 7 and had some time penalties probably due to discussions and time spent in the air. Again DK not worried as discussions at home used to result in a melt down and V unable to continue jumping, more time and experience will help again
Then the best bit, xc
1st fence
Last fence
Clear with time penalties, but DK had wanted V to see what was coming, give him time to work it out and enjoy himself. V didn't hesitate at anything, so one happy DK and AB
Thanks for taking the time to read this, can offer a slice of Mini DK's birthday cake, 9 today where has the time gone!
