The good old days................

What a lovely nostalgic thread. I remember all of the above except the bales with wire and I used to use a jute roller with padded bits.

I remember my Dad knocked up some corrugated iron stables one Christmas (earth floors obviously) because he felt sorry for the ponies hiding under the hedge in the snow! Eventually we even progessed to a concrete apron - wow, what a luxury!

Horses backs weren't checked, saddles weren't fitted, schooling was done in the corner of the field with some bollards and jumps were home made caveletti and oil drums.

Nothing beats the smell of boiled barley
