The "good" old days

I used to get wormer from the Farm Supplier before '80. Not sure how effective it was, it came in nut form.

Oh dear. I started riding about 20 years ago, but apart from a couple of years in my 20's, haven't been involved with horses for about 12 years.

Most of the things mentioned here were standard;

bit rings
blue & red stable rugs
petal over-reach boots
soaking sugarbeet for 24 hours
New Zealand rugs (what are used now then?)

I'm about to start riding again, and my kit currently consists of a hat with chin strap, a wax jacket, a pair of beige jods and some navy blue 'muckers' for my feet. Do I need to go shopping...?

Me...it would be considerably cheaper...what with my equine label fetish.....

Fab thread!
Our yard owner charged is 10 pounds per week livery, including let out/bring in, hay, straw, feed wormer, farrier, and transport to shows in their lorry, which was effectively a removal van with a ramp and some rickety partition , that we would squeeze 5 or 6 ponies in!! And the best but is that it had a kind of self bit over the cab, which all of us girls would travel in, clinging on for dear life! It was pink with a brown wonky stripe round it!.
