The great Reiki experiment - results

Interesting you should say about people receiving reiki who go on to be attuned. I would like to look more into it.

I have been guilty of perhaps some cynicism in the past yet secretly envious of people who had "gifts". I was open minded and this has been a mind expanding experience for me.

I may even go so far as to say I think that we all have a sixth sense but choose to tune out. Like, you know when you have a "feeling" about something, maybe that is sixth sense. Perhaps some people's are just more developed, or are more open to this channel of communication.

Also, it was me that received Reiki. Tinypony was generously "healing" me :)

P.s. any mince pies and cream left? :D
 
You've hit the nail on the head there!
Many say that all this stuff is just us opening up something that we used to know how to do and lost. That's what the attunements are for - to open us up as a channel for the energy again. Anyone can do it, honestly.
 
Well, I think 2013 is going to be the year I will explore another "channel"... Maybe it will be a bit like discovering E4... :D

That's pretty much how I feel! I have to say maybe my cynicism is holding me back in life, I have had some problems for a long time and they just aren't getting better, I am desperate to try something else so I can get on with life but there are so many therapies out there and I am a bit tight with money (as I don't have much of it) so I have never felt justified to spend money on it, but at the end of the day I guess most of these things cost maybe 40 or 50 pounds and I'd happily spend that on my horse so why not me!

I do find doing it over the phone strange, like I take it you guys don't know each other? How can you visualise someone you have never met, although I suppose talking to them would help to send your energy to the right place!

I think am open minded about it but I still have that 'it wouldn't work for me' feeling...
 
Reiki is fab, but remember in your training you should have been taught that you need to change for it, otherwise it devalues reiki, it does not have to be money as well ;-), I will add I have spent years with a problem after my reiki 1 I no longer have this problem, I have had every test going for it as well.
 
I find it easier if I have something to focus on for distance healing, although I have tuned in to people and animals without. Normally I have a photo. Last night Tallyho and I had a chat, and I think it helped to have heard her voice.
I don't know if I've changed or not to be honest. When I am practicing I do like to have some sort of return, and my Reiki master said that some "exchange of energy" should happen. It could be payment, or it could be something they do for me in exchange. In this case, Tallyho and I were responding to the earlier thread and I see the exchange of energy coming from her having reported back here. Just to say I wouldn't normally go straight to a piece of paper and note down what I felt during the Reiki, but I did it this time so that I could tell her and she could feedback. Part of the "experiment" I suppose. :-))
 
Does it work for personal problems as well as physical ones? Also like question from Holly Hocks :) This is really interesting!

Yes it could, but I suppose I wouldn't know if it had. :-))

It can "work" for mental and physical problems, but bear in mind the dangers of calling it healing. I refer to it as a complementary therapy, it's to be used alongside conventional treatment and I don't think anyone should be raising unrealistic expectations.

I am convinced that putting my friend on a world-wide healing network got him through pneumonia when he was on the verge of dying. Even his doctors call him a miracle for coming through. However, that can't be proved, and even if it helped, it can't be proved how or why.

Then I don't think that is necessarily an open mind. You have contradicted yourself.

A bit like saying 'I have an open door policy in the office but I will lock it just in case'.

You would be better off saying to yourself that you have an open mind and if it works, great! If it doesn't, nevermind.

And anyway, how can you doubt "it" when you don't know what "it" is?
 
Sorry if the above sounded like I was being critical, I honestly wasn't I was just trying to point out how you could overcome that 'it wouldn't work for me' feeling.. :):)

I take it you mean past experiences which have left you with emotional issues? if so, the answer is yes. It doesn't make you forget as you wouldn't want to. everything we have lived through is what makes us who we are. sometimes though, people carry them forward rather than dealing with them and letting them go. Reiki is very effective with this sort of thing. If it is something quite deep rooted then you couldn't expect it to make it ok in one session, might take a series of sessions.

as for sending it and the person doesn't know. if i did, even if the person wasn't aware it woudl still work, just would mean that they might not notice. although they might notice something but not really think about it as it wouldn't make sense to them.

If you are closed minded you could be putting a barrier up and not accepting it so therefore it won't work as you would be blocking the energy. I always say to people to just relax and accept the energy. accepting is important with reiki.
 
So which reiki practitioners on here are willing to put it to the test and claim James Randi's 5 million dollar prize? Don't all shout at once now ;)
 
Its a very interesting thread and has sort of answered some questions that have been in my head for a while. I am a sort of inbetweeney in that if it works thats fine but I cant understand how it could from a distance if that makes sense? I would be very interested to know if it could really work for someone who does not know about it as it would be good to try it on a friend who would probebly be quite sceptical if she knew about it

It's 1million. also he picks and chooses who they will test. way more have applied than have been tested. also, you have to pay all the costs of travel plus the costs of testing. I would need the million up front to do it! (don't know how to do the sarky winky smiley thing back)

I know it is difficult to understand about the distance thing but it is about sending energy, just like when you make a phone call. best way i can describe it briefly without typing loads lol
as for sending it to someone who didn't know, well I wouldn't do that as an experiment or for any other reason. It would be wrong in my eyes and most others who do reiki. Also like i said earlier I don't use my reiki as an experiment. I have given a wee blast to a few people who have expressed and interest but not quite believed, that is different from someone being scathing and saying it's a load of crap. I'm not in the business of changing anyones mind, they are entitled to their opinion. I have plenty people who want reiki for real reasons rather than to try and prove I am some kind of fraud. i would never do it to prove a point.
 
Hmm I think I would quite like to try this :) I am openminded and believe it could help, to whatever extent that may be...
 
Well i received my Reiki from festnuttyfairy last night and it was quite mind blowing. What i described and what she picked up on were exactly the same and it was a great (strange) but great experience :D

Afterwards i messaged her and told her what i felt and asked what she felt.
It started off with a lot of heat and tingling in my hands and especially my right hand/arm.
Then i got cold tingles in my lower back sweeping up to my shoulders and then a cold spot on my left shoulder blade behind where my heart sits. This was followed by a cold pressure on my right shoulder and a hot sweeping across my abdomen/chest.
I also felt very heavy and relaxed and 'small' almost like i could feel/see in my mind that i had shrunk
Festnutty then told me what she felt from me and it was all spot on!

Glad you enjoyed it. did you sleep really well? laughing at it being strange but great. i suppose it is a sensation which does feel strange the first time. I love my reiki, it is such a good thing, and makes a difference to people. i know there are a few on here who have been very scathing about it but i wonder if they have ever experienced it. Not that i am offering to try and change their mind. I don't really mind either way if they dismiss it as rubbish really. some people are just closed minded to anything they don't understand.
 
I got some pain in my left pinky area which usually means their pain is or was on the right side, apparently she has had this pinky broken a number of times. a couple of other things that i wouldn't want to say on here as it's not my place. If ERR wants to say then i'll let her do it. I hope she doesn't mind me saying about her hand though. x

I don't mind at all :) i have also had some trouble with my stomach recently that cf picked up on and some information on my own personality that was all correct :D

I'm afraid Reiki wouldn't qualify.

If you look back I think that the Reiki people taking part in this have been quite clear that they're doing it as a goodwill gesture, we don't have anything to prove, or any need to prove anything.
