The horse as the perfect accessory and social status indicator.

Haven't read all the replies, but I'm a bit puzzled re the TB reference.

My understanding is that some of the racehorse rescue yards are actually looking for riders who want to hack quietly. Many of these horses have injuries from their racing days so a gentle amble is appropriate.

Goes without saying, its irresponsible to purchase a horse it you lack the will or finance for its needs. Sharing has to be a better option for those on tight budgets.
 
Experience wise- Hmm not too similar but our propietor-private yard,big house etc -lovely man, but basically buys horses as he has the land, grooms and likes them in the field in front of his house..

So basically the horses live in a field (in a heard I presume?) and are regularly groomed? This doesn't exactly sound like a cruelty case to me! I reckon they are a damn lot happier than those horses getting hauled around to RC rallies each weekend.
