Bit of an incident trying to open the wrap on a haylage bale with an unfamiliar knife. I bled copiously all over the bale, the surrounding area, the track back up to the yard, the yard, one of the metal trunks, the tackroom, and myself. There are gory photos, but I won't post them just yet! Two of my liveries raided the horse first aid kit, and patched me up in true "horsey woman" style.
I am not looking forward to seeing how much blood I left on my nice clean yard in daylight - it was bad enough last night in the dark

Hope your tetanus jab is up to date Aus!
Yes, thankfully!
I was grumbling last night about how this could have been avoided if my usual haylage opening knife was where it has always lived.
This morning, I found it, exactly where it has always lived, so I guess I'm just an idiot!

??? isn't it amazing how disappointed you feel when an injury doesn't live up to your expectations! ?

It's not fun when that happens! I got kicked at point blank range, was lame on it for a few weeks and had a smallnred smudge to show for it! If I poke my thigh now I can feel lumps in the muscle where there shouldn't be lumps but never got a bruise! It sucks!

Very true! I've had a number of those sorts of injuries! Hurt like heck but no evidence to get sympathy with. Rubbish!

I had a painful fall onto my hip / arse last year. I think I might have done something mildly interesting to my pelvis (not bad enough to get checked out but enough to make me hobble for a week). Interestingly there was hardly any bruise on my arse (where I landed) but I did get an interesting line of bruise come up on my bikini line.
Not really something you can show off to people though.
