What do you most hate about it?

I am sure I could come up with a few, but any abuse of the horse has to be top of my list.

I cant think of anyone who wouldnt list abuse as the worst thing, to be honest

Whether that be harsh handling, neglect or otherwise, abuse is unnacceptable.

On a lighter note, the one thing that really riles me in the horse world is seeing kids at shows who think they know it all

Obviously the abuse thing that really goes without saying, gets my blood boiling.

Now that I'm older I have to say horsey teenagers. A lot of them are so cliquey and unapproachable.

Oh oh, and people who put on full make-up to go and see their horse, and do their hair as well (sorry if I'm offending anyone who actually does this). I just can't see the point, I always get filth all over me every time I'm anywhere near Penny (maybe I just attract dirt).

Oooh, and overly competitive parents.

People who make comments without knowing the whole story. Oh and my favourite people who think all horse should be ridden in a snaffle and if you don't you must be a really awful rider who shouldn't be allowed near a horse. The funniest thing though is that these people are usually quite rubbish themselves.

Bitchy people have to be my pet hate and those who tell lies and think they know everything and know nothing. These sort of people are those who have had horses for 5 minutes and are experts.
rant now over.

oh n with the hair n make up thing i totally agree whats the point i look like a right mess after riding n mucking out

I hate it when people look down their noses at our rescues. I love them all. They were bred by someone!!!!! Just because they are not flashy eventers etc why pic fault? I am not asking these people to buy them or even take them on loan.
I did have a giggle about one that was being torn to pieces by someone. Went to first show - won! Went to championship and got reserve champion!!! Not bad for an unwanted horse pulled to pieces.
There is no need for it thow, how nasty.

People who look down on other people because they don't wear the right cloths at shows, or have the right type of horse, or do the things that they "should" be doing with their horse.
There is a lot of intolerance, one up manship and snobbery about. Mind you I don't think this attitude is confined to the horse world.

People who get horse after horse after horse and can never cope, but don't realise that they are the problem not the horse. The worst I know has gone through 11 in 3 years!!!

People that have horses for the image, they keep them on full livery, and if the horse is 'lucky' the owner will go down once a month, jump on an already tacked up horse ride it into the ground and hand it to the nearest person after! Go to a b***dy riding school!!!!

Having worked at a rescue centre in the past, another thing that wound me up was people that came to a rescue centre looking for the most perfectly well behaved horse! If they were that good, the chances of them needing rescuing are about one in a million!

I agree with the cliquey horsey teenager bit - but also with RachnTabby - not all teenagers are like that. The rare occasions I head on out to unaff SJ round here, I can't stand all the cliquey-ness (if that is even a word) that you get there. The worst of it isn't even the kids - its the adults that go. (then compared to going to unaff dressage locally and everyone is really friendly and helpful - go figure....!!
