Well you asked for people's opinions... and this is what they are.... :)

Please dont worry, this forum is notorious for not staying on the topic that the thread-starter hoped for.....

FC, I did deal with it. Note my comments about pigeon-shooting etc. There's none so blind as those that won't see.

Morally I feel very secure.

I provide a habitat for a certain amount of deer. I also allow a certain amount to graze the grass I have grown.

I control the numbers by hunting them which is very good fun.

If I can't do this I will remove them from my fields.

It is not a zoo.

I don't want a situation like the 1840's.

My moral conscience is satisfied.

Getting enjoyment out of something.

We really are poles apart. I think, if your not enjoying it then you shouldn't be doing it.

Even the Hangman should enjoy his job.

Poor old RS! I have tried over the years to get him/her to confront his 'moral' argument, but he ALWAYS slides away to the shelter of hypocrisy..

"You'd like to think that he would get fun out of it too ? " Well, as you say it's important not to define that term to seriously, but yes I'd like to think the hangman gets enjoyment from his occupation. I'd also like to think he can do that without being some sort of blood thirsty pervert.

If he doesn't enjoy it then he should do a different job.

Actually there's quite a lot of skill to carrying out a hanging. There are two obvious ways it can go wrong.
