Well the inspector phoned me this morning to tell me what time he was going to the horses, so i met him there and told him their story.

He said what i thought he would really - that it's made much more difficult by the fact that they're owned by travellers, and that the mare isnt skinny enough to warrent anything drastic (like seizure). Water had been provided, so someone must have been to them since i was there yesterday. But he said the grazing isnt suitable, and her muzzle needs treatment, so he wanted to speak to the owner.

I'm crap at directions, so i took him to the owners' 'house' then left him there, calling for back-up! Apparently, the last time he dealt with travellers, they threatened to kill him, so he didnt want to risk any trouble. The settlement is in the middle of nowhere, so it's a bit scary! He also said that a welfare officer in manchester got beaten up and had his ears sliced off for 'interfering' with gypsy horses!!

He also said that the horses are used for money laundering!

So that's all i know for now - he's going to ring me later. I doubt anything will be done though - they'll just be moved on.

Gosh Moll, I felt sure that they would make arrangements immediately for the horses to be removed. I'm quite shocked.

Sounds like they may be worried about reprocussions.

Sorry it wasn't more successful an outcome

Blimey - I've been following this post for the last couple of days - really sorry that outcome not a little more positive. Like AmyMay says', sounds to me like they are worried of the possible fall out from it all - and better to leave horses where they are, than risk injury to oneself or family!

Infact the more I think about it, this really SUCKS!!

You know what, maybe you should have just knicked them and taken them half way across the country for 6 months or so - gotten them freeze marked and in 6 months time they wouldn't have been recognisable! And therefore no proof that Pikeys ever owned them anyway!

It's alright for them to come on our yards nicking our tack and our horses (that are always well cared for) but look how they treat theirs............. sorry if I'm out of line - really really angry now!!!!!

I'm SO annoyed - i feel like i'm emotionally involved now and i cant just leave it! Grrrrrr!!!

Oh the temptation to steal.............!!!!!

The inspector hasnt called me back yet - i hope nothing bad happened!

Bit worried now!

I just dont know what to do? What would you do? Would you just leave it now, and see if the ilph do anything, and/or risk the gypsies moving them again? (Although, tbh they're never going to be moved very far away (unless sold) because like i've said before, the gypsies aren't proper gypsies - one of them owns a house with land, and the rest of them live on it, so all of their horses are local. It's just a pain in the bum trying to find their horses once they're moved, because there are so many squatable (is that a word?!) fields around here).

I just KNOW they're not going to listen to a single thing the ILPH tell/ask them to do.

Anybody fancy hiding a LIBERATED mare & foal for me?!!

im totally peed off , listen keep an eye on them 4 a bit , maybe feed mum, if they get worse im in bristol, box them down, but watch your back girl.keep an eye out 4 a missing ilph officer with a kicked butt,.

As tempting as it might be you know you can't steal them. However if there is a time when they can be moved legitimately (for example if they are grazed on land without permission and their immediate removal is requested by the landowner) then I am more than happy to help with transport and anything else you might need - can you tell I have done this before?
