So sorry. The days and hours waiting for it to happen are just the worst thing. Somebody mentioned courage which is exactly right, it's probably the most courageous thing we ever do as horse owners. Sending you a hug and thinking of you today.
 
I know it won't feel like it but you are doing the kindest and bravest thing you possibly could. You are letting him go before life becomes too much of a struggle for him.
