Now he's far from a finished article, but he's getting there.
He's still only 5 now, and i would love to event him, but generally i just want to have some fun with him! He's the first youngster i've had, and the first horse i've had to re-school. In some ways it's a big challenge, but i'm learning so much and having a great time.
A good friend of mine got Major in 2008 off the track, he was with her for 2 years. In that time he was left to grow up and be a horse (he couldn't even eat grass when he went to her), she also did bits of groundwork with him over that time.
Here he is on track (on the inside)
This is him shortly after she got him, so not long after coming off the track.
And after a little while there...
Then in September 2010 i said i would take him on to re-school with a view of selling him once he was ready.
This is the day he arrived (out of the field)...
Enjoying some pampering on his first day!
This is all within the first few weeks, he was good as gold the groundwork he's done at my friends really showed...
Then i decided i was going to get on him... this is the first time i sat on him! He didn't actually understand any of the aids except steering i guess from the long-reining!
First time we tried doing anything, i just sat there everything was done by the person lungeing.
I then started doing a bit of hacking as i decided this was the best way to teach him... and it seemed to work! In the main he was a star...
He was then shaved, and was good as gold!
As you can see we got to a relatively decent level pretty quickly
But still did lot's of hacking!
Then tried jumpies...
Very exciting!
then we had a little bit of snow...
Which he enjoyed
He spent that time getting fat (literally!)
And learning some tricks!
