The Lifespan of Hunter Wellies

I got my latest pair of Hunters in Nov 2012. Already they have split above my right big toe. My previous pair lasted me 7 years! Has anyone else had this problem? Do they come with some sort of guarantee?
 
There's all this talk about how now they're being manufactured in china rather than scotland (may be wrong) the quality has gone downhill! However I have just binned my pair that lasted 4 years. Not bad for £60 and I was in them most days! Will be buying a new pair.
 
That's not bad, my last pair lasted 6 months before they cracked just about everywhere (pair before that lasted years and years)! Think they come with a 12-month guarantee but worth contacting Hunter. I've given up on Hunter, trying Le Chameaus...
 
My first pair of Hunter's, bought 15 years ago, lasted 7 YEARS. Mt last pair (bought last year at ENORMOUS expense) lasted about 6 months. They are now crap. Do not purchase.

I very much doubt I will be getting them again. I was so pleased with my first pair I would have recommended them to anyone. I thought £80 was going to be a good deal for wellies that lasted about 7 years! After reading everyone's replies I shall be contacting Hunter to see what they have to say for themselves.
 
The new 'china made' hunters are just expensive cr*p! May survive a weekend at Glastonbury, but not even a few months of a british winter.

The original ones made in Scotland were a different story, and have had pairs last many years. I was fortunate to find a pair on ebay and they are still going strong, despite being second hand.
 
My whole family used to wear hunters now we just buy cheapie ones as they last just as long if not longer.
By the way I was wondering whether the people who aren't having any problems with the Chinese ones drive in them? I find driving seems to really test the flexibility of the rubber.
 
I also have two pairs of ordinary (unlabeled) wellies which have lasted me years. Very good around the yard and in boggy fields.
I don't think i'll be buying anymore hunter wellies after mine crack up!

Just about to get some, as my 'only fit for 2 dry days at Glastonbury, if that' pair have also gone through on both feet in 12 months.

I did but only a ten minute trip to the stables and back. Now that I have a new car my wellies don't go anywhere near it ;)
 
Mine have lasted me 2 or 3 years now and still going strong - as are my mother's who have lasted 10 years!!! I think it massively varies, although the trend nowadays seems to be that the quality isn't great.
 
We've found the same, they don't last and from a previous thread on here are ordering from Century, think it was Mrs B who suggested then. so hoping they are as good as the old ones!
 
My latest Hunters lasted a matter of weeks and they weren't being put through any major trauma either! The previous pair lasted a similar amount of time. Will never go back to them now!
 
They probably last longer than the Joules rip off wellies! I am on my 3rd pair in less than two years. first pair - cheaper version leaked within record time. I took them back and got the more expensive pair, they lasted less than 6mths! helpfully they come with a 1 year guarantee so got a new pair. They did better, lasting an amazing 10 mths! Swapped them again as they never made it to the guarantee period. This current pair I got in November started leaking a couple of weeks back! I quit, they are going back and I want a blooming refund this time! :@

Use to have Hunters for years, then they started leaking, cracking etc then they started making them in different colours. So I bit the bullet and bought myself a pair of Toggie waterproof leather boots and also for my Hubby and they are BLISS, also in the coldest weather my feet are like toast and dry and I don't need thick socks.:)

I can thoroughly recommend the century ones, one year on still going strong and showing no signs of splitting

:D also like the ladies 'wider' fit :p
