.... just wondering what little "extras" people do for their horses ... in the colder weather I am almost ashamed to admit that whilst I am putting on my horse's boots I slip his girth over his neck just under his neck cover to warm it up for when it goes round his belly ...... not really spoilt eh!:D

Mine is so spoilt that he injured his self yesterday in a wire fence and luckily some one at the yard saw and bought him in and went to clean the injury to assess it... with a hose pipe. Yes hes a horse - and this is a normal hose pipe.

Even with a leg injury that is seeing him dosed up to the max and maybe 2 months box rest he eluded 2 very competent women (working as a team)

They resorted to a bucket with a sponge... Like hell!! He snapped the head collar and they then had to ask the visiting farrier to hold him as he was too strong (only using 3 legs due to leg injury) while they boiled the kettle to attempt again with nice warm water....

Stood like an angel....

He is 13.2hh and 26 y.o

RUINED!

Carrots in the food processor so that they get a little bit of carrot with each bite :p Only once a week tho for carrots.

Scratching posts covered with coir door mats to get a bit more itch scratched.

God how sad am i?!

My girl has 2 x cups of Fast Fibre for tea, so on a night I take up a flask of hot water so she has it warm

Currently boiling a kettle to do the same thing :) also put a bucketful of hot water into his water tub ('to encourage him to drink more'!) and when I tacked up the other night I put his numnah under his rug to let it warm up before I put his saddle on and walked around with his bit under my arm to warm that up too! Did occur to me that he's half a ton of horse and I'm 9stone and therefore probably need the heat more than he does :/ x

I bring the bridle into the house for a couple of hours before I ride so that the bit isn't too cold for his mouth.!

Wow I feel like the Iron Lady after reading these! :o

They used to get warm dinner on cold days, but since new yard doesn't have a kettle spot its back to cold i'm afraid! :O

I always mix warm water with my mares token gesture of hifi, walk in the mud/puddles so she doesn't have to, & in the past have spent nearly all my money making sure her needs were met, then lived on value bread, value pots & value pasta for weeks myself.

Now I know I have lost it .. I have taken a bale of hay home to soak(will soak sections as needed) :p must have soak for vet reasons :) I'm then going to sit it in buckets in the house to them dry it ..as I hate him eating frozen soaked hay :/ ..someone take me to a mental hospital ..ASAP .. :s
