The Malamutes strike again sadly.

Getting really fed up. Nothing seems to have been done, least nothing positive. My mums community are tearing their hair out, and many dogs have been terrified.
The latest victim, a corgi, on lead with his elderly owner in a mobility scooter. Malamute got away from owner again (he simply couldn't hold it) and totally floored corgi. Luckily I suppose that corgi has plenty of coat, if it had been a whippet (like mine) it wouldn't have ended so well. Minor scrapes and nicks from what I saw, BUT that is not the point. It simply shouldn't happen!!
Local police and dog warden know about it, and are 'having talks' with owner. Like last time. We were ever hopeful owner would at least agree to muzzle the dogs in public, but apparently he refused as 'they won't kill'. The dog warden has met these dogs a few times, but yet to see them in action with other dogs. Funnily enough,no one wants to volunteer their dogs as guinea pigs! They HAVE killed. Ok, so not outright killed a defenceless little white dog (breed name escapes me) but he did sercome -(spelling is appalling today!) to shock a few days later.

Mother is now very reluctant to have my kids out walking with her, in case they all meet these large dogs.

What can we do? Can we do anything?

Escalate up the police scale and complain to the council that the dog warden is not being effective.

What a horrible situation. I think I would be buying one of those high pitched battery powered dog stopper alarms and be armed with it incase of an approach attack by one. I can't see what else you can do - carry a stick too. The sad fact is an elderly dog would likely die from shock and any attack would be shocking for both young and old to witness.
What an irresponsible and insensitive owner the malamutes is. Why anyone would want a dog that strong that they cannot control is beyond me.

keep complaining... that is all you can do. ask everyone in the area to do the same- enough people and they may actually take you seriously. it sounds very dangerous

You seem to have done all you can re reporting it. How about contacting the local press, that can sometimes work as a last resort?

Unfortunately been through this situation so hopefully might be able to help.

Firstly aggressive dogs were wolf hybrid and a malamute. In fairness the malamute was friendly when it arrived , juvenile, with the owner, but her management soon ruined the dog.

As mentioned other villagers struggled to get anything done. Even a court case failed when the wolf hybrid hospitalised another dog - owner a sales rep and convinced court it was just a normal fight. Dog was muzzled after but still pinned dogs to ground. Police seemed to be unaware of this but did reprimand owner for allowing malamute to cHase stock.

When our problems commenced soon realised that dog warden and police were not communicating. Also frustrated that dog warden assumed I was a neurotic small dog owner - previous dog had been a 50kg GSD police reject.

So, the way we made progress was for everyone whose dogs had been attacked, to complain to both dog warden and police. Parish council was also made aware. Police warned owner that I would take court action, and they were looking to build a case to issue an ASBO to the owner.

Within a few weeks the nightmare owner put her house on market and left the county. Understand that she has now rehomed both dogs.

Suggest raising this at your local community association and ask Police re ASBO.

People that allow their dogs to do this really, really irritate me, I walk a large dog but under no circumstances would I allow him to approach a small dog being walked by an elderly lady in a mobility scooter and he's very friendly.
Police and Dog Warden not being very effective, the only hope would be to catch it on video to maybe make them understand how bad this situation actually is, and in the end it's the dog that will suffer due to negligent owner

That's pretty much how we handled it. Someone started a group and everyone was asked to log any incidents with the group after informing the police and council, that way we had a log of who had called when. Which is more than the police and council had as we discovered at a public meeting called after my sheep and lambs suffered a fatal attack. The police were eventually forced to take seriously all the reports of incidents plus the noise reports plus the reports of poor housing and conditions for the dogs and as a result the owners were banned from keeping dogs.
