I have recently learnt a big lesson. There i've been, reading some threads and thinking 'aah poor you' at the bad luck a certain poster has had.

Not So! As always, there are two sides to every story. Something that i will try to remember from now on when people are giving professionals a good bashing on here.

In fact, a certain HHO member has recently been giving others a slating both on the open forum, by PM and in real life. Having just found out another side to a couple of her stories (purely by fluke- I then had a read around on here) I really do feel for the professionals involved, who have potentially had their businesses and their careers damaged by someone unjustly. The member has not been entirely truthful, misleading at times and really needs to take a step back and see these situations for what they are rather than misleading all and sundry into thinking bad about professional people.

The member has even changed their user name after one storm they created. I'm not going to be fooled any more though!

As an extra example of how two faced she is, she's joined in the Parelli bashing on occasion. But guess what? I wonder if her Parelli Instructor knows what she has said about it on here?!!!

I will not name and shame. I am hoping that she will feel ashamed enough of herself for trying to damage careers and businesses without good reason and think twice before posting, PMing and generally slagging off others in real life.

*Rant over* Sorry, but I had to do that! :)

It happens over and over again. People post stuff that either doesn't add up or contradicts previous posts. Some people will then ask questions and get jumped on by everyone else. This continues over time, gradually more and more people start to pick up on inconsistancies while still being attacked by the followers but eventually they always slip up enough for it to be obvious that it is all rubbish. :) Then even the most hardened follower has to accept it.

People on the internet can be very two face, as can people in real life. In my opinion it is often those courting sympathy that are the most insincere.

One of the sad things is that i don't think some of the things this particular member has been saying have been deliberately malicious. She just sees things in a very far removed way from the actual situation. But then the damage is done when she tells everyone continually how hard done by she is, as if its not her fault. When actually she has missed out alot of detail and twisted 'stories' to make her look whiter than white. Everyone then thinks shes a lovely lady thats had bad luck when she is just going round being a b!*tch!

Very sad :(

I'm a believer that the truth will always out. It might take a while, but you tend to find that liars and manipulators end up being found out eventually. Not nice the damage it can cause in the meantime though.

We can only take people on face value on here, as in real life, I don't want to be suspicious and cynical about all posters and so like to give the benefit of the doubt, and there are plenty of good honest and sensible posters too whose opinions I respect.

That is sad, but always worth remembering that there are two sides to every story and when the other side can't defend themselves we are only getting the poster's version of events.

Expert liars always add a little truth to their tales to make them harder to decipher. I know, I've had to deal with a few of the bast@rds in my time!!! Unfortunately certain aspects of the horse world seem to cultivate it, certain streams of the business world does too.

Quite agree with you.

I think there are 3 main reason to change your user name .

1. the one you have for personal reasons you don't want to use anymore .

2. the other is because the person has been banned and coming back under a different name ( i know this to be true )

3. someone being picked on by members who have nothing better to do than form a little groupie and use cyber bullying .

Its pretty unhealthy to have that must hatred and determination to find out someones weak spot , then try to find their real identity and where they live. That's borderline stalking and one that can be pursued by police.

There will always be some on hear who have some sadistic pleasure belittling others.

Sad really I'm just going to turn a blind eye and make them invisible to me . I am not dragging myself down to their level anymore .;)

Actually there is a 4th reason people change their name on here because the first one was crap! I have thought of changing mine for that reason :)
I don't spend that much time in NL anymore so have no idea who the evil name changer is but I'm sure there are a lot about.

As Percy said, there'll be more than one person on here :).

Many years ago, somebody posted about being thrown of a yard, blah blah ... going to name and shame blah blah.

Well I'd been on a yard with her and can fully understand why she'd been thrown off and has been thrown off a consequent yard.
Thing is, I think if you tell an untruth for long enough, you believe it to be true.
Some people are deluded .

another reason for a name change can be when the forum changed to the new 1, somene nabbed your name :/ that's what happened to me
or you're changing it for xmas :D

Another reason for changing, is because email address changed and could not remember original password!!!!

I just want to know how all the passes over my head? I really must have my head in the clouds lol

The thing is, as a one off post it is quite easy to read what this person has written and feel sorry for them. You wouldn't necessarily realise that they are deluded or stirring trouble.

But I was having a conversation with a professional person and I was telling her about a few stories from here. She then mentioned a few things (in conversation- she didn't say any names, she is too professional for that ;)) and it sounded familiar. I did some reading and can't believe the misleading posts. There have also been PMs and it has since appeared a bit of slagging off in real life too. All totally OTT and uncalled for. And its not just about this one person but others too.

So its just taught me a lesson! I just hope the member realises before they damage any one else! Very unfair :(

Sometimes people on here don't come across properly. I know I don't. Anyone who's met me IRL will testify.

It's all well and good you claiming it's malicious lies, but what if it's just the truth according to another set of eyes?

In honesty though, we're all a bit too grown up for "Miss, Miss, she said THIS!" games.

the internet just magnifies the weirdness of the human race;)
Some people struggle in real life to have real friendships/relationships, on the internet they can be whoever they want to be.
Some lie and make up false lives for their own twisted amusement, some do it because they crave the sympathy and attention they can get , some do it because they just can't help it and are like it in real life too!
I learnt my lesson a few years ago, letting myself be taken in by someones stories and tales of woe, let myself get led into forum arguments,I even went to her wedding!!! it wasn't until someone pointed out a few things to me ,things began to unravel and that person then turned on me that i found out the full truth about her :(
I'm now much more wary, i still have 'cyber friends' but I'll never make the mistake of trusting them like i would a 'real' friend:)

yes there are many faces - the ppl who lie and scam. the ppl who are nasty, the people who will batter you when low -i have experinced them but this forum also has the good faces - the people who have listen to me bounce from high to low and high again. the people who have been so so kind when i faced my mare being pts. the people who have pm'd me( i have a message waiting :) the people who have simply been there for me so yes on this forum there is spiteful cruel ppl but so there is in real life - but there are also alot of kind caring people so come on lets get rid of trash and enjoy our horses = the highs and lows together :)

There are even people on here who have more than 1 alias for themselves, and even use each alias to reply TO THEMSELVES! Especially it would seem when they get a bit of a bashing for a comment they have put up!

Some people have too much time on their hands and no life..

Sometimes I think people can feel falsely secure by sitting at home or wherever and typing away on a forum feeling anonymous but not realising that even the smallest amount of information they give about themselves can often give them away. You don't know who you are talking to, it's a public forum, ANYONE can view it, in the horsey world, and it can be a very small world, if you use said forum to slate someone, or refer to someone kindly or not, don't be surprised if said someone finds out about it.
