The most beautiful morning in the history of the world...

Even though it was minus 7 degrees at 7am when I was turning my girl out, there was freezing fog on all the trees and bright blue sky behind. It was incredible, just like the sunset last night - it was fabulous, almost like being somewhere exotic.

Our mud around the yard has almost dried up and although this hard frost means very poorly hands, it was lovely to see the horses lying sparko in the sun having a little sleep yesterday.

A taste of spring to come perhaps!!

Beautiful here this morning too. Before the sun came up the sky was rose pink, then apricot, then a sort of creamy lemon colour. And then the sun rose and was a great fiery red ball behind the bare trees. There was a thick white frost covering everything, and as the sunlight hit it, it was twinkling like diamonds.

A herd of red deer were grazing in my paddocks below the house....they saw me watching them and streamed away into the woods.

I have to agree Pinkweasel, it was a very magical morning.

I also have to agree was totally stunning this morning, even though very cold frost on the trees a bit in the air but the colour of the sky and the wisps of fog made it totally stunning as my boy trotted and snorted his was across the field was so nice to watch just wished i had had my camera with me

Wow Epsom, how wonderful to have red deer in your fields. We do have them now but don't very often see them outside the forest. They must have looked awesome

one of the horses had frost on it's mane this morning!!! it did look quite good- new meaning to frosted tips!

Wow another vote for this morning from me - our sky on the horizon was a really deep ruby red fading into a bright blue further up, and the sun was rising low so all the trees were sillouetted (sp) - made the cold walk to the field this morning positively nice!

The water in the trough was just SO hard to break though - I was stabbing it for ages (elec fence post comes in very useful I find!! and it wouldn't shatter at all - so I've left them with bullet like holes all over and eventually managed to perforate out a circle big enough to get a nose in!!

Naturally, that reminds me, hadn't shattered the ice on one of the water tubs this morning and by the time I got back with another bucket of water my girl had managed to get the disk of ice about 2 inches thick and diamater of about 2ft and it was lying beside the tub. The disk was unbroken. I think I have a very clever horse! (or at least one with a very strong nose!)

humph - why can't ours learn how to break/remove the ice in the mornings, they are perfectly happy to tip over a full water trough and destroy plenty of other things in the name of mischief. Actually that'll be why - far too much fun to watch one of us freeze ourselves on our slog to the field and back than to DIY!!!

Nice here too. Been lovely the past 4 days! Riding yesterday at a SJ comp, I was BOILING! I was even in a T-shirt clipping one of the horses outside on Saturday in FEBRUARY in SCOTLAND! Just wait though, we'll have a fab Feb and then March will be dreadful...
