Absolutely... I was just reading the monthly rates... I'm on a very inexpensive DIY so it's crazy money but compared to some prices I've seen people say they pay for part livery it's staggaring what's included there...

Mine would trash the joint very quickly though... :D

Haha! A question I know the answer to :) I learned that recently on here. They are PRE and apparently it is traditional to roach manes and tails in the first year. Certainly gives the illusion of much chunkier necks doesn't it?
 
OMG don't anyone show Captain! He loves being pampered and would adore that place! Fany, they'd throw her off she is the filthiest beastie in the stable.

Seriously though sounds like a bargain to me, especially if they have their own field and can get straight to it from the stable, end of to turn out or not debate, let them decide.

My thoughts, exactly! No matter how dust free the bedding or hay, there's no way those chandeliers aren't wiped down daily. And what about cobwebs? They must have a team of people who hoover the lighting, ceilings and corners everyday.
 
Last Easter my other half went to play golf in Saudi Arabia and was invited to one of the princes yards (this is not a Roxanna lie - I swear I'm telling the truth), any-road-up, the video he shot was unbelievable - all the horses were in pretty much the same environment albeit sans chandeliers. The yard manager was an Irish bloke who knew the whole pedigree of everyone of the horses (there were loads) and they had a fabulous life. He doted on the horses and once they had been retired they were just looked after in their dotage. Nice eh?
 
I recently learned about why they roach/hog them too. I also noticed one foal had its tail all shaved off. On this site though it looks like many of their older horses are sporting this look too. That and strange shortly cropped tails and forelocks???? I am wondering if they like this look there but I think they look better with the long manes.

They appear to really be going for specific colors though and I noticed some of them almost look like tall and skinny Fjords when roached :D


Their horses are beautiful though and those champagne perlino colors are gorgeous.

I also wondered how often they must paint AND how on Earth they keep all of those light fixtures clean and sparkling! They must have some staff there.

That shocks me for the level of care and facilities. The last time I paid full livery was about 7 years ago and it was $300 per month back then with a heck of a lot less than that to offer.



This place also offers horse holidays where you can stay there and bring your horse if you choose. I did not do the currency conversion but am wondering if their holidays are equally affordable.


They must have a team of free working ooompa loompas then because it is hardly a cash cow :D Now we know what the little closets are for....
 
Re: the glass in the arena. I imagine it is tempered or plexi glass. Tempered would obviously be quite costly at that level. My old stables had plexi in the arena and I do remember a colt jumping through it because the owner thought leaving it locked in the arena overnight by itself was a fabulous way to wean it :cool:
 
Stupid phone!! But maybe things regarding price of hay, bedding and especially thinking of labour cost are lower, which means the cost to keep a horse there is also lower, meaning infact a profit is being made. We have very strict rules reg employment, maybe (is it Germany? Haven't looked too closely at website) can get away with paying people absolute peanuts to dust chandeliers...
 
Their rent/mortgage is probably a lot less than it would be hear too. English properties prices are quite mad compared to a lot of Europe I think.

I mean where are the facilities such as hydrotherapy?:confused: from what I can see this yard is seriously lacking in facilities:mad: my two would expect their own rug in their stable none of this shavings nonsense when there is a Persian rug to be had......:rolleyes:

those facilities are all very well but do the horses ever get to scratch and nuzzle each other? do they ever get to roll in the grass [or mud!] and feel the wind in theor manes? Do they get to live in little peaceful herds,grazing all day in large paddocks?
 
Amazing. I don't understand how they can keep the paint on the stable doors so white. Perhaps they'd just moved in when the photos were taken? I'm also quite intrigued as to what the little sentry boxes are for.
 
Is that price to keep your horse in those exact stables, or do they have normal ones round the back for pleb horses I wonder:p

You are quite close ... Germany does not have a general minimum wage ... this is only compulsary for a handful of professional categories ... hence they may have the lowest unemployment rate since 1991, but the price quite a few people pay for this is high: they can not live of their after tax earnings despite working fulltime jobs. They still need financial support from the government.
In the horse business your cheap labour is most likely to be Polish in Germany.

For those wondering about the clipping of manes and tails, in the PRE/Spanish breed it is traditional to shave the manes and tails of all foals until just before their 2nd birthday(fillies have a little "skirt left at the end of the dock, colts are fully shaven), and breeding mares are kept hogged and with the top of their tails shaved.

Lol some of them look a bit more like pooches than horses!

Erm well frankly not to be disparaging or anything but its all a bit "german" really...

Me I prefer stables to look a little more like stables than the ballroom for a viennesse waltz...;)

It is traditional to hog The manes and tails of young purebred Spanish horses and mares have their tails hogged to point of buttock and hogged manes.

It is quite normal and so obviously this yard could be a stud for PREs with livery facilities. To me it looks as if they are a classical yard but the opulence is just a little ott.... Although, if I won the lottery I would definitely have it built!!!

So just the brood mares keep the hogged manes and partly shaven tails? Is there an actual practical reason for this or is it just some sort of breed standard grooming for the sake of tradition?
 
The broodmares in Spain are rarely ridden. The hogging and shaving is for showing confo and also practical for covering. This is most often the case for mares shown as a cobra. It best shows the mares shape and balance...

Youngsters are shown shaven for confo aswell up to 2. Aside from uniformity and tradition (who are we to question ancient cultures and age old tradition after all) it serves to keep the crest straight while the young horse is growing and prevent a heavy mane from possibly causing a fallen crest.

Not sure about tail, maybe another Iberian enthusiast could enlighten us both.
 
I am not questioning it in a negative sense, I am just genuinely curious. I would give my eye teeth to have any one of those beauties hogged or not. You don't see many of them in Wisconsin.

Don't think my mucking out routine would go down too well there, barrow half in/half out of doorway, lobbing muck and wee from the back of the stable hoping to hit the barrow at least one out three throws, flinging the shavings up the wall to let the remainder run down and scoop out, slosh water bucket out, drag haynet along over my shoulder, I could imagine the yard owner/manager having a series of fits just watching ! :D
 
I really do wish i could put my horsey in one of those stables just for 5 mins, give her a bucket of food too :) In those 5 minutes they'd have chaff and sugarbeet smuged all over the walls and doors, nicely glued on with snot and mud :rolleyes: she'd probably finish it all of with snorting at one of those fancy chandeliers and leaving a lovely long snot hanging off it. she'd then proceed to walk out of the stable dragging her feet as much as she could to spread the shaving everywhere and on her way out she'd lean against a wall and poo :D they would probably throw us off that yard withing the first 5-10mins :D
