Well I've just tried the Nail Test that Tia told us about.
(Where you tie a nail to the end of a piece of string and then hold it above the mares' pelvis. If it swings to and fro along the mares spine, it suggests a colt and if it swings in a anti-clockwise circle, it suggests a filly).

So had a go, and it was so wierd......when i held it above the ground it didn't move, at all, but as soon as i held it above one of the mares' pelvis it started moving!! Wierd or what?!?!

Anyway-
the nail says.....
Teazle is having a filly
Bramble is having a colt

So, we shall see if its any good in 4 months time

Tia did you have a go with Cloud??
Becki, give it a whirl tonight, it will be interesting to see if it works for you!!!

That's like the one you hold your wedding ring (I think it's the wedding ring) above your hand on some string and it can tell you how many kids you'll have and what you'll have!

It worked on the last foal we had- colt.
How long before they foal can you do it?
Does it work on people?

Aaargh! I mean't to but I have been rushing around all morning so haven't had time. I'm going to go out right now and do it.

I'll be back in a couple of minutes to let you know.

It makes me despair of what chance there is of persuading african men that raping virgins will not cure them of aids when in a highly developed countries in the western world people can believe such absolute nonsense as this. Obviously our education system completely fails to instill in most people the basics of how the natural world works, what a crying shame. It wouldn't suprise me if there are remote areas of Wiltshire where human sacrifice is still part of the local custom.

Isn't it always the way LOL!! I went out there and the minute I was in the corral......4 liveries turned up LOL!!

Anyway, I've just done it and it says she is going to have a filly!! It was VERY adamant that it was a filly as it went berserk LOL!!

I also tried it just above the ground.......absolutely nothing....no movement whatsoever.....weird.

Just to add that i did this over my own stomach when pregnant and it was correct both times, as it was for many others i know who have tried it. I love a good old wives tale don't you? and its just a bit of fun!!

Sometimes the weirdest things seem more truthful than the most current science.
And just for fun - a completely uncivilised, uneducated thought - has anyone tried it to verify their pregnancy?!? No movement - nothing there, and then as per colts and fillies

Edited to say: ups, the boy/girl obviously worked as per post above

who rattled your cage? it's only abit of fun, hardly on the same par as rape.

Dowsing is very well regarded in some 'scientific' areas (such as water divining) and is not just an old wives tale. The movement of the pendulum is a result of subconscious muscle movements which are caused by the person's brain in response to unconscious stimuli. Who is to say that signs or signals cannot be picked up regarding a baby's sex, just as well as for water or metal or ley lines under ground.
Nobody knows the extent of the capacity of the human mind.

Oh yes, we had a water witcher here last weekend when we started on the drainage for our new arena. We knew one of the drains underneath one of the fields had been broken by a previous owner of this farm, but we had no idea where it was, only which field it was in.

The water witcher came and found it almost immediately - got the JCB out and they started digging - he was right! First dig and they found the broken drain.....I was amazed.

I'm just on my way out, nail and string is still in the stable; so I am going to try it on another pregnant mare and then on a barren mare and see what happens.....then I will try it on a gelding. Will report back later LOL!!

I don't think it matters to be honest. I just used a 2.5 inch deck screw and wrapping string. You have to make sure that when you tie it around the nail/screw that you also tie a knot ABOVE the nail head though, otherwise it is lop-sided.

I do it with a ring [handy I have a wedding ring now] Ive done it for years. Its always right.
Last year I did the mares and it was ezact so Ive done this years mares, Fern [Sandas daughter] is having a filly which is great and the other two are having colts which is fine as I need ridden geldings to sell. I havent done the new mare yet . Its great for the cows too as it saves pd ing them, the old cow is a heifer and the young cow a bullock, and the wee one is not in calve. All my husbands cows are due soon but I havent done them they look big and ready to drop so I dont mind the surprise.
It worked when I was pregnant before as well

Puddicat you need to realise it is not witchcraft, its simply to do with male and female giving of different magnetic fields

A friend who was really into all this sort of thing made me a pendulum from an old musket ball from one of the sunken ships round here (Portsmouth). I could do amazing things with it - 'sense' energy fields round potted plants, answer questions, etc. But I maintain that it was just my subconscious mind influencing it. Spooky, though.

You can use pretty much anything - a ring or a crystal on some fine string or cotton will do just as well.

I hadn't heard about it being a nail, tbh. I know you can do it with people using a wedding ring.

I don't have a picture; but if you tie the string around the head of the nail, leave a tail on the defunct side and use this bit of string to come up and over the nail head and then tie it above the head so that there is another knot directly above the centre of the nail head. Either that.....or use a ring, like others have suggested.

I couldn't do it when I was out doing horses as it is way too windy here and none of the horses were in their barns. Will hope for the wind to die down later in the day.....or seek out a horse who is in a barn. Actually, I have 2 mares and a gelding in the stables.....perfect guinea pigs

Seriuosly, what is your problem?!?! Its a bit of fun, and for all you know it could actually work!

Well if you think our education system is failing coz we're having a bit of fun, i wouldn't want to live in a country run by you! BORING!
