The new bags of Dengie Alfa-A

Has anyone else noticed the recent bags of alpha-a seem to be very stalky with some stalks fairly tough and very sharp?

I'm going to email Dengie about this as I think the quality has really gone down, but wondered how widespread the problem is or if our yard just has a few duff bags?

The one I have just got is like that - not its usual quality but thought I was just unlucky and got a duff bag - maybe not.

I no what you mean, i have had that a few times, i think its luck of the bag, and dependant on the harvest they get!

This is why I now use D&H Alfalfa - IME it's of a more consistent quality.

Interesting about the D&H as someone I know changed from D&H to Alfa A as she kept getting hard lumps of what looked like a mix of dust & mollasses in the D&H. That was a few months ago though.

Alfafa depends on the time of year as it is different when harvested at different times.

My local feedstore has had to return all their Hi Fi lite as it smelled odd (sort of sugary fermented)

I have no idea if it makes any difference, but I get mine direct from D&H - no middle man.

it will depend on the crop & harvest and weather it is uk or european grown
